New here and was wondering
I have my nipple flap surgery on Friday. I know it is only under local anestetic and so isn't a big deal at all, but I was wondering if anyone could just let me know what to expect. Will I be able to exercise? Will I have to wear something to protect my new "ornaments"? Anything I should know beforehand? My Plastic Surgeon…

chemo delayed so I followed Pitt's lead
I read Pitt's article the day after I was SUPPOSED to start chemo. It got delayed; they're doing an oncotype now because of my strange and mysterious tumor. I got so inspired by her article, I swam today - YEP! I, who have been whining to myself for 4 1/2 weeks since my mastectomy, actually went in the pool at the gym and…

Tissue Expanders????
Had a skin sparing double mastectomy about three months ago. These (gas jugs) I mean tissue expanders are driving me crazy. My right side is still either bruised or something underneath the expander where the alloderm attaches to my muscle. Doc's don't seem to be worried, but i am very active and that area becomes pretty…

A Dutch treat...
Yesterday I was reminded of how small The Netherlands is...lol... Saturday morning we left home early to go to a new snufflemarkt in Enschede. Not too far drive, about an hour Southeast of us. Found some great stuff...but oddly I heard many people speaking German as well as Dutch. So, I looked at a map...only 6 kilometers…

Vicki had her biopsy yesterday
Hi Everyone, I just wanted to give you an update on Vicki. She actually had her biopsy yesterday. She begged them to do it before the 17th and they did. Now we are waiting for the results. She probably won't find out anything until Wednesday. She is in quite a bit of pain today, but is staying positive and strong. I will…

Will be having 6 weekly treatments, the first and fourth will be Taxol and Herceptin. The other 4 will be just Taxol. After I finish those, then it's Hercepting every 3…

Finally cleared for rads!!
My PET was clear and although my tumor markers are at 41, I reminded my onc that I had a sinus infection at the time the blood was taken. So he and my radiologist decided I could start my 33 rads treatment on Monday. I'm so happy to be going to the next phase of treatment. I am no longer afraid, knowing the my docs will…

couldn't believe it
I had been at work for about half an hour this morning when suddenly my boss and 2 co-workers came to my desk with flowers and small, pink, heart-shaped cakes, saying "Happy Anniversary!" For a brief moment I had no idea what they were talking about and then it hit me, one year ago today I was diagnosed with breast cancer.…

MRI with contrast-- of the chest-- yesterday
I had and MRI with contrast yesterday and they carried one set and report to my oncologist and one set (with no report) was given to me. Of course last night I looked at them, as if I could understand! BUT, I think I saw the same looking calcifications that I originally had when I was first diagnosed. Those little white…

Infusion Port Removal - In Office
Just wanted to share my recent experience regarding the removal of my infusion port. Initially, when the port was inserted, I was promised it would be removed in the same fashion that it was inserted - in the operating room with me being out. A year and some months later my surgical oncologist decided he would remove the…
