TxN0M0 PET Scan Report
Don received a copy of the PET scan report today and it said the stage appears to be TxN0M0. Having EUS on Friday - we are thinking the 'x' will be filled in at that time. Pretty sure the N0M0 is good. Am I correct in thinking that the 'x' number will be determined by the EUS? Thank you all so much, Judy P.S. Liquid and…

T4 but not Stage 4
Well, a visit to the surgeon on Thursday gave me some news and a timeframe. The EUS showed that the GEJ tumor has invaded the diaphragm. Oh joy. That makes me a T4N1M0. I said, in a squeakly little voice, "Does that mean I'm Stage IV?" "No, no. It hasn't metastasized, it's just gotten bigger. And will make your surgery…

Missing my good friend and fellow insomniac....
I don't want to upset ANYONE especially Chantal, but man it's 4am, I am up, having my meds, waiting that required 15-45 minute window, to become 'human' and "feel" like Eric again, and Lee was always up too, right there with me, and man do I miss his charm and humor today. This pots is a celebration of his gifts for humor,…

How was your (or yours) CT scan ordered?
I didn't get any response to my other question on this, so I'll put it another way: How were your or your loved ones CT scans ordered/or what did the report say it was--a chest CT or a chest and abdomen CT? Thanks! Angie

The January lunch for the Atlanta EC support group will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012. We'll gather at La Madeleine's at Perimeter Center West at 11 AM. I know 11 is a bit early for lunch, but it might help avoid the beginning of the lunch crowd. The restaurant is located at 1165 Perimeter Center West. The La…

thoughts by caretakers for cancer patients
I went to a counseling session for my mom today at the cancer center and my mom told him that she feels guilty that she is being a burden on the rest of the family especially me because I'm spending all my days and nights being with her. I told her that being with her all day is not a burden. So here are some thoughts from…

A silver lining?
Thanks everyone for responding and giving me support over the past week. This has been by far one of the scariest moments in this cancer trek, only the surgery would top this week. It has been confirmed that Jeff was septic when we arrived at the major hospital, he is lucky to have responded so well to antibiotics and…

File ?
Is there a way to create file folders on this board for everyone to access? Thinking it would be great to have handouts on diet progression after surgery. Files on all sorts of topics- pain management, types of surgeries, pre-op workup... stuff like that. If so, I'd be happy to get it going if there is a way that I have…

The roller coaster continues...
Hello friends, So sorry I haven’t been around for a while. I do read this board daily on my phone but it is often difficult to post effectively on it. You may recall that Brian had an aspiration of fluid which had built up in the capsule surrounding the liver. They removed 2.3 litres of green coloured fluid. He had also…

Physical Capability 5 Weeks After Treatment
What are the physical capabilities 5 weeks after chemo/radiaton? My mom is still really weak. Her arms feel heavy, she's cold all the time, really fatigued. I thought by now she would be back to pre-treatment capabilities but she can barely take a shower before being exhausted. She's crying because she's scared she will be…

Updates: Scans and Esophageal Stricture
Hello Everyone, Sorry for being absent for so long. Dad's condition and work didn't given me much time to come back here. I see we have some new faces and Eric (chemosmoker) has updated his picture. Probably not a surgery candidate
We had our first appointment at M D Anderson today. Have a whole bunch more tests scheduled to determine exact staging. Dr thinks 3 or 2. Because of Bill's many other health problems the oncologist thinks he is probably not a candidate for such a major surgery as they don't think he would survive the surgery. Something I…

Back in the hospital
Hi again friends, So we made it 9 hours before having to go back to the hospital. If anyone ever questions if they should go to a major cancer center over a community hospital, always go to the big guys! Jeff was originally at a community hospital near our home as it was the closest ER. As you know Jeff was neutropenic and…

For William, Paul, and all other 2+ year survivors
I would like to know if any of you 2+ year survivors are on any kind of acid reducing drug such as omeprazole or Pepcid, etc. I have been on omeprazole since April of 2010--started on Pepcid after surgery, then changed to omeprazole by my oncologist. Now my oncologist says to reduce my dosage by half for about a month, and…

Esophagus closing up again?
A little background; my father was diagnosed with lung cancer in May of 2010 which had spread to his esophagus. He had radiation on his tumor roughly 2 months ago (luckily around this time he also had a feeding tube put in since the tumor basically closed his esophagus completely where he couldn't even swallow water).…

My father is 75 and was diagnosed with T3 cancer of the esophagus. He had a feeding tube inserted (he can hardly eat), and will start chemo and radiation in a few weeks. Good Day!

His energy level is increasing (hemoglobin on the rise) and he is back at the gym most days. He is learning how to eat smaller…
