UPSC recurrence help
Hello all. I am hoping someone here may have some advice. My mother in law (70ish) was diagosed with UPSC almost 1.5 years ago (stage III something I believe). She had a complete hysterectomy, 6 rounds of chemo every 3 weeks (2 types carboplatin and something else that made her hair fall out), and internal (vaginal cuff?)…

Mass found in bladder
I had Grade 1, Stage 1 endometrial cancer and total hysterectomy with ovaries and Fallopian tubes removal in August after which I was told I was cured, and there was no need for chemo. Before my hysterectomy I was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection and treated with antibiotics. Since my surgery in August I've been…

Hi friends, old and new
I've not been active on the board for a while, but I'm baaaaaack! I lurk here now and then, but only recently decided to become "present" again, mostly because of my old friends that have departed. Not to bring up sadness, but damn, there's too many wonderful ladies that have left since I joined a few short years ago. I've…

UPSC Recurrence
Test results: CA125 jumped from 63 to 91. PET/CT showed 2 supraclavicular nodes with high uptake of SUV (17- suggest malignant) with a small (about 1/4 inch) splenic node (3.3 uptake) likely false positive. My lymph system was highly lit up by PET on initial scan (In retrospect, I was probably stage 4 from beginning rather…

A difficult post
This is the most difficult news I've had to share on this board. With tears in my eyes and deep sadness in my heart, I have to tell you all that Helen, daylady, passed away on Monday. I last heard from her last week. The fatigue she described in her last post had not improved nor had her appetite. In addition, what seemed…

Recovery after UPSC
I am starting a new strand to ask some questions about recovery after all we go through during treatment. Surgery, 1/25/17; 1A:3 rounds carbo/toxol, April/May; 5 bracky June/July; DVT/PE clots June; Lovenox until 12/13/17. (age 77) I wonder if I am expecting to bounce back faster than I should expect. 20 years ago had…

Just Checking In
Hi. It has been a few months since I wrote last but I was thinking about all of you since tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I am thankful to have found this group when I felt like my life was falling apart when I was first diagnosed with uterine cancer. I remember feeling depressed and filled with high anxiety, but many of you…

anyone take dilaudid after surgery???
sisters, i'm wondering how many of us were prescribed dilaudid for pain after surgery, and how long people were on before they stopped. did anyone become dependent, and have to go through withdrawal symptoms, as did i? if so, how long were you on, and how long did it take for the withdrawal symptoms to subside? what were…

Doxil/cisplatin
Has anyone had this combo? The doctors are concerned at the way I reacted to the Taxol and don't want to move forward with it again. They will do both a hearing test and heart echo before beginning but all the potential side effects scare me.

Desensitization vs different chemo drug
I had two strong reactions during my first taxol/carbo treatment this week. I ended up just finishing the carbo. The doctor did a blood test to see if I'm actually allergic to the Taxol itself or the additive they use. The oncologists are saying they are considering desensitization vs. trying a different drug. The other…

Introduction - Endometrial IIIA
Hello, I was diagnosed with stage IIIA endometrial cancer on October 5 after a full debulking surgery. I started my chemo on November 8 - I am scheduled for 6 cycles of Taxol and Carboplatin, but my doctor did not order any radiation therapy. I was wondering if this isunusual? After reading many of the posts, it seems that…

PET Scan Update
I had my much-dreaded PET scan on November 6th. I was a nervous wreck since my last scan was a CT in May, done at the end of chemo and before starting radiation. I got a nasty surprise when that found mets in my retroperitoneal lymph nodes. Since I'd actually managed to grow *new* cancer while on carboplatin and taxol,…

Question about infusions of taxol/carbo
i recently had my 3rd of 6 rounds of chemo for IIIc uterine carcinosarcoma. I had no side effects with the first two. I was concerned during the 3rd because my iv seemed to drip faster and run shorter than the normal 3 hrs. When I asked the nurse if she speeded up the taxol, she said no...but later lied about the start…

Disappointing PET scan
Hi, ladies. I haven't been very active on the board lately, trying to resume a somewhat normal life after Germany and hoping for good results from my scan. Unfortunately, the scan results were not great. Three weeks ago I had my scheduled scan and while the good news is that the cancer has not spread to my liver, pancreas,…

3 months of Taxol/Avastin
Hi everyone- I have been taking this treatment weekly for 3 months and it has been pretty awful. For some reason, the Taxol made my whole head miserable. I've had horrible mouth sores, loss of taste, hair thinned out, and worst of all, sore throats and sinusitis so bad it eventually became infected! At the end of the…

Odd/possible TMI question
I was just told last Wednesday I have uterine cancer. I see Gynecologic Oncology tomorrow. Back in May I was on a cruise. The last night of the cruise I was in horrible abdominal pain. I wound up going to the doc onboard the ship. When I got off the ship there was an ambulance waiting for me. I had an abdominal CT scan,…

Help with differing treatment recommendations
I'm relatively new here, and very glad to have found this discussion forum. I wondered if anyone has received different treatment recommendations from gyn/onc and medical-chemo/onc? Gyn/onc strongly recommends 6 chemo, but chemo onc recommends 3. It feels like the decision is now on me, and it's hard to be in this…

A new path forward...
Hi Ladies...well, the results of my PET Scan were not good (I did not expect they would be). The lesions in my liver were arrested in Germany, but there is progression in the lymphatic system that lights up my whole torso like I was covered in fairty dust.I HATE PetScans! They light up every little spec of anything that…

Head Breaking Out - Day 29
I had my 2nd round of chemo Oct 25th. Most of my hair is gone; but I have not shaved my head as yet. Today - my head has exploded in small pimples. I have been washing it every other day and keep it covered by a chemo cap during the day. Im looking for suggestions how to care for my noggin. Thanks!

Really good news!
I was pretty well convinced that I was facing another recurrence. Well, guess what? I had a clean PET scan! The history for me was diagnosis of carcinosarcoma in Nov. 2015 (hysterectomy, frontine treatment of carboplatin and taxol chemo and brachytherapy) and recurrence in March 2017 (treated with pelvic resection surgery…

What makes you feel good
So ladies what do you do that makes you feel good? Especially when undergoing treatments... I thought it might be nice to share the "little things we do" that improve our wellness or feel like a treat when things are hard during chemo/radiation/post treatment For me my almost daily practice of yoga is what keeps me…

how soon after surgery did you start the chemotherapy?
Hello everyone, I had a hysterectomy (left both ovaries in) in June and subsequently diagnosed with endometrial cancer (endometrioid type, FIGO grade 2 , stage 2 - incomplete staging since no lympy node was removed) Last week I had another laparoscopic surgery where my ovaries, omentum, appendix and a 6 cm solid mass…

First surveillance appointment
I had my first survelliance appointment yesterday. My CA125 was 3.3 (my Dr. high fived me when she told me too!) and my exam was normal. I also had my first bone density test (since chemo can affect the bones too), and it was normal. She said, I am normal lol . My friends may disagree, but she's the Dr. and should know :)…

Blood clots - DVT and PE and cancer
I learned the hard way that cancer, chemo, tamoxifin, age, fall, inactivity, or surgery could cause a big problem! Yes, they mentioned blood clots the day before I started chemo, but no one stressed how high risk I was! Finished surgery, chemo and was feeling great. Then went for the scheduled CT scan and WOW - DVTs in…
