What a year this has been... ...
Hello to everyone. I haven't been on here for a while. Hope everyone is doing okay. This has been one hell of a year since March. I was diagnosed in March. I lost my job end of May and I am still looking for a job right now. My original doctor would not do anything because I do not have insurance. So I decided that it was…

Leg weakness post treatment
Hi All, I am new to the site. I just finished my fourth and final round of Taxol/Carbo. I had surgery followed by 28 treatments of radiation with cisplatin and 4 cycles of taxol/Carbo. The worst effect besides the fatigue was horrible joint pain 2 days post chemo followed by terrible weakness of my legs. I also have some…

Any experience with Gemzar, Topotecan, Doxil, Avastin.
Hi all! It has been a while since I posted, however, my cousin and daughter recently did on my behalf. I thank those of you who assisted them. After 18 weeks of Taxol and 6 cycles (once every 3 weeks) of carboplatin (from April 28 to August 25), my cat scan results were quite devastating...numerous tumors throughout my…

evidence for "expectations determine outcome" sayeth connie
sisters, i was listening to our local pacifica progressive station this morning and heard an excerpt from a speech given by christine northrup, md, a woman's doctor and healer. she quoted from what she said was the best experiment she's ever heard of: women, i think middle aged, were asked what they expected their old age…

First 3 month appointment coming up
I have my first 3 month appoinment coming up on Friday and while I have read what to expect, I am a bit nervous-obviously because there is always a possibility that there may still be cancer. I did not have chemo or radiation as it was low grade and several oncologists believed it was not needed as I had a radical…

Moving from Primary Care to Hospice
My mother was diagnosed with uterine cancer last week after the results of a biopsy were received. A PET scan was also done. Primary care referred us directly to hospice and has not been willing to give us a referral to an oncologist. Because my mom was in so much pain and not able to keep anything down, we took the…

monitoring
Hi just had my 1 year pap done and the Dr ordered no tests other than a mamo and bone density and said see you in six months. I was wondering if this is normal protocol for someone who has endometrial adenocarcinoma stage 1b grade 1. I had no treatment other than hysterectomy with nodes removed and a pelvic wash, all…

What is the neutrophil number that everyone's oncologist required for chemo
Hi all. I am curious what neutrophil number everyone's oncologist requires to do chemo-I am on taxol/carbo. My oncologist requires only 1.0---this is quite low as normal range is 2-7. Last chemo I dropped 1.3 on neutrophils so if you start out at 1 you have nowhere to fall but zero. I look forward to responses. Hugs to all!

Jazzy Jan
Just wondering where you are at in your treatments? Are you in NED right now, or was the scan you mentioned something recent for you? Hope all is well. I always find your posts so inspiring!

Discomfort in back of left thigh began day after 4th chemo
Did anyone ever experience any pain or discomfort in the back of their thigh following chemo? I have had discomfort in the back of just my left thigh after my 4th chemo 4 weeks ago? I mentioned to the resident but then when my oncologist came in he didn't look at it so I will have to ask again.

I'm new here
Hello all. My mom had a staging hysterectomy 3 weeks ago and has been recovering amazingly well - she actually went to a dance this past weekend! Follow-up with the surgeon this morning resulted in the news that she has Stage III-C UPSC. I've spent the last hour and a half doing research, including reading many of your…

Low sodium issues
Has anyone experienced low sodium levels during chemo? My mother has always been a little low on her sodium but prior to surgery she was hospitalized because it was critically low and then after her first chemo tx, it was critically low again.

Has there ever been a study on blood types and treatment?
I was just wondering. Since everyone has different blood types and if you give someone the wrong blood, things can go wrong. Has there ever been a study to see what treatment fits better with the different blood types? Here are my specs. CA125 did not come into play. My blood type is B+. I am allergic to Taxol. They didn't…

Bok Choy & Kale Recipes
I'm delving into unknown territory with these vegies and thought some of you have a "special" way to prepare. I've got a wok and steamer and bet this route may work too. Seems like so many cookbooks suggest saute in oil with spices, but thought I'd ask you all the experts. Ideas? Thanks! Jan

So if you don't hear from me don't panic. You can call me if you'd like. I'm a great gabby person on the phone. Take care of yourselves. Love, Diane

"Essentially Negative" PET scan result!!
Hi all, I couldn't resist posting this. After a very long wait, I got the follow-up PET scan - 7 months after the first showed me lit up from pillar to post!! In retrospect I believe this was a false positive which someone mentioned on this board is common with PET scans particularly soon after surgery. I wish my doc would…

Lucretia - thank you!!
I've been reading your blogs trying to find a climer of hope. I had been so opptomistic, after surgery the cat scan showed no cancer, and three months after chemo the CA125 was 19. But then six months after chemo the CA125 jumped from 19 to 69. The doctor said he would do nothing until it reached 100 and I would be on…
