Saundra's memorial
Our son Brian prepared a photo montage that was shown at the beginning of Sandy's memorial service here in Midland. Because of the short notice, Thanksgiving holiday, etc., many who knew her were unable to participate, but Sandy loved you Survivors and wanted you to know she was ready for her arduous journey to end, to transition to her eternal home.
The program is slightly less than eight minutes. It takes a few moments to download, and it may pause at intervals to download some more. If you have time to view it, you will get a good perspective on Sandy's wonderful life, especially the last few years as together we worked on her "bucket list."
You can access the program at this link:

I hope you have a joyous holiday season and a bright new year.
Joe

Thank-You
Dear Joe,
thank-you for sharing this beautiful video with us. Tears. May the ache in your heart heal in the coming years. Love You, Paula0 -
Thank You
Dear Joe,
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing the montage. It touched my soul. What a lovely smile Sandy has in the pictures! Was the hymn her favorite? It was perfect choice for the tribute.
My heartfelt sympathy to you and your family. I hope you check back every so often and let us know how you are coping. You have a lot of great advice to give to caregivers.
Fondly,
Mary0 -

This is Joe. "On Eagle's Wings" was the theme of her memorial service, with the Isaiah 40:31 reference. We borrowed a short essay, "Eagles In a Storm," shared on this site by BonnieR. A solo of "On Eagle's Wings" was sung by her friend. WRitten tributes were read from me and my older son, Mark. My younger son prepared the montage.0 -

THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH
for sharing this beautiful collection of memories of Saundra. The music, 'On Eagles Wings' is very dear to my heart, as it speaks of Psalm 91. That scripture is has intense, special meaning to my husband and I, and it began with my diagnosis in 2000. It's quite a story, which I may share someday. For now, please know that while my heart aches for you and your family, I can see the Lord and His love in all of your faces, and the many, many photos of shared times, happy times. God bless all of you.

sending love
Sending love to Saundra and her family. Thank you, Joe, for sharing this tribute to your Sandy. How beautiful to see her life from child to adult to parent and wife... Saundra's beauty lives in our hearts. May the longtime sun shine upon you, and all love surround you, and the true light within you guide your journey home.
May we all have the strength to choose hope in our lives touched by cancer.
Peace be with you,

Monika and Joe....."On Eagles Wings" is my all-time favorite hymn. Whenever I hear it, I relive both the happiest and saddest moments of my life: my mom's funeral, my infant grandson's funeral, my wedding, my daughter's wedding, and more. As soon as Sandy's memorial video started to roll and I heard that familiar music, I knew I would have to steel myself, just to keep the tears in check. I wasn't very successful, but my heart was not crying, instead it felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my chest and I was awed by the glory of God, and the beauty of Saundra's life as it unfolded before my very eyes.
I urge anyone who has never heard the words to this very special song to do a You Tube search for "On Eagles Wings". You will find many excellent renditions.
I have thought often of you, Joe, in these last few weeks. Twelve years ago, my husband died of cancer on our 25th wedding anniversary. I truly understand, and I am so very sorry for your loss.

Carlene:
You truly have endured more than most people could possibly handle. I'm so sorry to hear of all the tragedy in your life. But I'm happy to know that God is your Rock, and equally as happy to know that another sister is blessed by this wonderful song. As I mentioned in my earlier post, one of these days I'm going to journal the amazing story of how the Lord brought this song and scripture to me.
Luv, Prayers and Big Hugs!
Monika
P.S. I wasn't successful in holding back tears either.0 -

I do not come here often, as my home computer is down. But today I came here and my heart broke...Saundra has passed and I did not know. I thought so much of this lady. She always took the time to reply to me, first about my Mom and then for me. She was always, always putting so many of us here on this board ahead of what might be hurting her that day. I will so miss her. I know that she is up with Bonnie and they are having just the best time. But gone is the wisdom and kindness they both gave to so many of us. Thank you for sharing "On Eagle's Wings". The beauty of your family shines through. May you all be comforted by God and His angels. Thank you so much for sharing Saundra with so many of us. Cindy0
