Increased pain
Hi Ladies,
Lately I have much increased pain. it's not yet six months since I had my debulking surgery. I have had pain since then , but it seemed to be getting less noticable,
Now it is becoming all the time. I was thinking that maybe it might be adhesions. I know that when I had the surgery the onc spent many hours just removing old adhesions.
Do you think it's to soon for them to be causing so much pain. Could it be the beginning of a small blockage.
I've been trying to hold off calling the doc, the wedding is in 10 days and I don't want to create more than I can handle at this point.
Any thoughts on adhesions and all this pain.
Sending all of you positive thoughts and healing hugs.
Lisha

Hi Lisha
I am so sorry you've been experiencing so much pain. From what I understand, surgery adhesions can begin forming days after surgery. Even though the wedding is only 10 days away, I don't think you should hold off on calling your doctor. Not all adhesion pain means there's a bowel obstruction but only your doctor can determine if there's a small blockage in the works. Twice last year, I had a lot of pain from a partial small bowel obstruction caused by adhesions. I couldn't stand the pain and I checked myself into the hospital both times and stayed there for about two and a half days, with my doctor making sure my bowels "rested". I know you don't want to have to make a trip to the hospital right now, so I'm hoping what you're experiencing is not serious in the long run.
Big hugs,
Kelly

I don't know if it is adhesions that you're dealing with, but myself and other women have had great success with castor oil packs for dissolving adhesions. They work pretty fast; you'll see results within a week.
Hi Tethys
Tell me more about the castor oil packs. I have never heard of them.
It seems like each day I have more awareness of the pain. It's really starting to get to me.
I have a call in to the doc, but have not heard anything yet.
Trying hard not to become scared, I'm used to pain, but don't know why it is increasing so much.
Looking forward to learning something new.
Thanks so much

These have been used for eons. Buy the castor oil and the white flannel sold next to the castor oil in the health food store. Soak the flannel (you can probably use 1/2 or 1/3 of the piece you buy) in castor oil. You don't want it to be dripping, but the flannel should be pretty soaked with it. Place the soaked flannel on your abdomen, or where ever the pain is. Cover the flannel with plastic (a produce bag is usually the right size). Cover the plastic and flannel with a towel and add heat (heating pad or one of those microwaved rice packs). Sit back, and relax. An hour a day is great, and you should see pretty rapid results. You can store the flannel in a ziplock. Then when you reuse it, you may want to rub some castor oil on yourself where the flannel will be placed. The flannel is good, until it starts to become discolored. At that point, you want to use a fresh piece. Don't use some old piece of flannel you have lying around, especially if it is dyed, as the dye will be leached into your system. The only negative side effect I've ever heard of is from a woman who had become allergic to the castor bean extract they use in Taxol, so she had a skin reaction to the castor oil. But I beleive this is very rare. Hope this helps with your pain. It has sure resolved repeated adhesions for me.
