I've noticed this past week, several commercials speaking to the signs and symptoms of OVCA. One was from the mother of a prominent eye doctor here in Michigan. Saw two more, but I didn't catch who they were. Just wondered if anyone else has noticed OVCA awareness ads in their area. I'm so happy to see this! (((HUGS)))…

Ovarian Cancer Urban Legends
If you disagree with any of the statements below, please don't kill me. I copied and pasted them from PubMed, that's all. These are not recommendations for survivors' diet or lifestyle. These are studies of ovarian cancer risk factors in general population.

Our caregivers
In your opinion who got the short end of the stick, who is more anxious and depressed, who is going to suffer longer: you or your caregiver? Next time I feel sorry for myself, I will remember these Australian studies. Let's go and do something nice for our caregivers: parents, children, spouses, other family members,…

2nd chemo down and onc gave me good news!
I was a few hours into my 2nd infusion when my onc appeared. She was beaming and asked if I had seen my numbers. I said no, what is it? 25 she said. I said, 25! You mean down from 171. She said no the result before my first chemo was 191. I guess I didn't get that result. I asked jokingly, can we stop with this chemo? She…

I had a concerning ultra sound. I am due to have a total hysterectomy at the end of July for adenomyosis and pcos so my Ob/Gyn decided to do a ultrasound. Kudos to Angelina Jolie
Kudos to Angela Jolie for going public about her BRCA status and the difficult decisions to be made around it. As a BRCA 2 survivor of both Ovarian and Breast cancer, I only wish I had known about genetic testing after my mother died of BCA in 1996. This gene mutation has been around since the early 1990's but never a word…
