CA-125 dropping with chemo but NOT MUCH; does that mean it's no longer working?
My CA-125 was 54.9 from my labs drawn before Monday's chemo. I am getting a weekly 1/3 dose of single-agent taxol for my 1st recurrance of UPSC (similar in prognosis and treatment as ovarian papillary serous cancer); and am 6 weeks into it. My CA-125 spiked to 155 when I had my monitoring check-up in November and following…

Had CT Scan suggesting cancer...looking for hope
Hi, I've not been officially diagnosed yet, but I had a CT Scan today and my doctor called me within two hours. Apparently the CT scan indicated "carcinomatosis" and "probable metastic ovarian cancer." All routine blood work was completely normal. I had a transvaginal ultrasound and will see my GYN on Monday. Any…

Hey there, Bonnie
Hi Bonnie and All, Thanks for thinking of me Bonnie. I did recently post a few times and did a "shout-out" to you on Dorion's subject of "Calling All Angels." Congratulations again for having the blood counts to qualify for your recent chemotherapy treatment! That was such great news! As you probably have seen, Hissy_Fitz…

Doxil scare
Just got back from the hospital this am after having my first doxil infusion. (The procedure here in Japan is that with any first time chemo you have to go overnight.) Had a bit of a scare. After 20 minutes of the doxil drip, I began to get chest pains. At first I thought it was my imagination, but it continued to get…

New News
Okay, ladies, I have not posted on this board for awhile because I really did not think I could add too much to what everyone else was going through in terms of advice. So many have had it so much harder than me, that I often felt guilty that you went through things that I did not have to. I've been a lurker. I say prayers…

calling all Angels
Well here I am again, more scared then ever before. Hearing the words "your cancer is very active" has put a massive hole in my heart I can't tell you how aweful I feel. I feel hopeless yet trying real hard to get back my mojo, that kick **** attitude that I've had for two years. Yet I can't stop crying, thinking morbid…

May I suggest?
I check people's "about" page if I am unfamiliar with their name/story. It frustrates me sometimes to find that there is none, or that the information is obviously ver outdated. Then I thought.........how current is my own? It wasn't. So I updated it. May I suggest that everyone do the same? It just takes a few minutes and…

Stress
We had discussed the relation of stress and cancer on another topic. I thought I should start a new discussion on this topic because it seems to be an interesting topic. We were discussing how many people had ADDITIONAL stress before their cancer diagnosis. I know everyone has stress in their lives, but it seems that there…

Update
I figured while I'm on the computer I should give you an update on my sister. If you recall, she had had a hysterectomy, but they left her ovaries, one year after having breast cancer. Now her CA-125 count is rising. Apparently her count was in the teens, but has risen to 45. Her ultrasounds looked good- very good news,…

Frustrated vent....
Once again I have had to put off the two root canals that I have been planning since November. My temporary crown came off yesterday, to boot. Last week my numbers (red and white counts) were good, but I went in this morning, just to double check them, before my scheduled appointment (tomorrow). My white count had actually…

Whoo Hoo!!!!!!!
Had my blood work done this AM and my CA125 is...........(drumroll, please).............. NINETEEN. I was totally prepared for it to be elevated, as I have a UTI, so this was a very pleasant surprise. For anyone who'd like to compare, here is my CA125 history: Pre-surgery - 4,000 (although a bowel obstruction likely…

Mom's chemo started Friday....learning to navigate this crazy world.
I know this is a discussion board focuses on Ovarian cancer; however, there were no sections for Peritoneal cancer and it's my understanding both are treated similarly. My mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer two weeks ago. Her first chemo treatment was friday - seven hours in that chair!! Yersterday was good - spent time…

Cancer diets...
I have heard everything, from "Cancer feeds on acid; don't eat citrus fruit", to "Cancer feeds on sugar; don't eat sweets", and even, "Asparagus will cure/prevent Cancer". My doctor tells his patients to eat whatever you want, but if your hemaglobin is low, you need to take a multi-vitamin with iron and eat liver. If you…

Chemo experience yesterday
Good Morning Ladies, Yesterday I had my 10th chemo treatment (2 weeks late). Had my Gemzar and was 5 minutes into Cisplatin when I started having chest pains. Called nurse and she stopped the drip and took blood pressure, oxygen level and temp. Long story short, I ended up vomiting, pressure went down, EKG was good, heart…

CA-125 count jumped from 15 to 37.
Hey everyone and Happy New Year! January was my 2-month lab visit. After the lab I found my ca-125 went from 15 to 37! The past 6-months every 2 months my counts would go up about 2 points, but now... I had my cat-scan on January 8, 2010 and will find out the results on Tuesday. I am so scared because back in Nov., my last…

pain in the middle of my back
Hi ladies, I am due for my 5th doxil Thursday, CA125 is at 132 a few weeks ago. I have this pain right smack in the center of my back that is getting worse every day. After a good night's rest, it actually seems worse. Very strange. At first I thought it was the way I slept or lack of excercise, but now am wondering if it…

Navelbine/Gemzar Combination
Hi, I have Stage IV Peritoneal Carcinomatosis, which is treated the same as ovarian cancer. Just had fluid siphoned out of my abdomen, but it keeps on building up so that I am bloated and uncomfortable all the time. First had Taxol infusions, then went on Arimidex and then on Aromasin, which wasn't working. Now my…
