Frustrated vent....

Once again I have had to put off the two root canals that I have been planning since November. My temporary crown came off yesterday, to boot.
Last week my numbers (red and white counts) were good, but I went in this morning, just to double check them, before my scheduled appointment (tomorrow). My white count had actually FALLEN, even though I am over two weeks out from my last chemo treatment. It was only .9 and my doctor wants it to be at least 1.5 or he won't sign off on "invasive" dental work.
The endodontist actually said to me, "Well, you CHOSE to have chemo in December and then had to cancel your appointment".
Excuse the hell out of me!! I should die sooner, but with nice teeth? What kind of moron talks about CHOOSING to have chemo??? Especially a doctor!

Me too!
After not seeing my dentist for over 2 years (too busy fighting for my life). I go in knowing that this last chemo gave my gums a hit, but once in quickly realized it was worse than I thought. I have an early onset of peridontal disease. Oh Well.
All the while measuring the depth of my gum tissue, the technician is like..."Oh wow Sharon, you've lost a lot bone tissue." Or "You should have gotten in here sooner."
I don't know if it was the expression on my face or what but she then said..."but of course you have to worry about your life first, so it couldn't be helped, I guess." YOU GUESS!
Right now as long as my teeth are not falling out of my head, the fact that I'm still here to be worried about anything other than cancer is a feat in itself.
I'm with you on that one!

Another Root canal saga
This is too funny, sort of. I also got caught in a root canal saga. I was in the middle of the procedure. I had the root canal, but 'had the temporary when I had to have emergency surgery for two bowel obstructions. My temporary was in for almost two months! Luckily, it held. However, they said because "I had waited so long," the permanent might not fit(they already had done the impressions)and that we would go from there. I think that meant another crown and more money! It did fit, thank goodness.
I had a cracked tooth to the nerve, I never consulted my oncologist as my labs are OK right now, but don't know what I would have done if they weren't. The pain was awful!
I think they still didn't quite get why I couldn't leave my morphine pump to come in and get the crown! LOL Froggy0 -
dentist
It has been over two years for me since I have been to the dentist. And I have always gone at least once a year.
I am not allowed to have any work done unless white counts are at least 3. I had rheumantic fever when young, so have to be in fairly good health to have teeth cleaned, etc.
Was going to go last year, but by the time numbers were up my CA started going up!!
Maybe this year I can sneak in a clean, have no clue if all this chemo has damaged anything in mouth.
