how many of you who had nephrectomies left the hospital with catheters? My husband was released today after a laparoscopy on Friday. Surgery went well; clean margins and a tip of the adrenal gland (taken as precaution to not spread the cancer by cutting the gland from the kidney. after 3 nights in the hospital and after 3…

Had a CT scan with contrast today
Had my first CT scan in July at 3 months and shrinkage was shown. Had a CT scan today at 5 months but won't know the results until tomorrow at 2pm (CST). You would think that in this day and age that they would be able to make the contrast somewhat tolerable to drink. Man I hate that stuff. It tastes like a pool cover or…

Blood pressure medications--what are you taking?
As with most, my tumor was discovered by accident. I was having a terrible cough thought due to lisinopril I had started about a month before. Then a chest x-ray which showed a small pleural effusion, CT scan of the chest recommended by radiologist, and the discovery of my large tumor. The day I was seen by my primary care…

I just had my scans today....
I had my 4 month routine scan today, but it was about 1.5 months late due to some insurance issues. I'm very nervous. It started with having to change insurance companies, I was with United Healthcare, and now am with Cigna. United never questioned any test the Dr has ordered from Day 1, but Cigna has played hardball with…

Who has had an open surgery?
I know everyone is different, but I am really, really dreading this surgery. I feel like running and hiding. My mass is small (1.5 cm), and I have two small spots on my right kidney that we are "watching." I don't want cyro...and I have to have an open due to having so many surgeries in the past (lots of adhesions).…

RANT/ COMPLAINT: PISS ON CIGNA HEALTH INS CO.
In advance disclaimer: I know this will not do anything except make me feel a little better. Chalk this one up for some bad PR and community awareness. Not that they care, right :) Cigna Ins Co. are ****/ bastards - they denied my ability have a 'pelvis scan' as part of my semi-annual routine scan after being only 1 year…

How and when do you find the "fight it"?
With my large right kidney tumor discovered just 2 weeks ago and surgery scheduled for next week, I find myself tired and very scared. How do I find the "I am going to fight this" attitude and determination? Right now I am just weary and there is no fight.

Epidural questions
So, it's likely I'll have an epi for my Open partial, and I'm curious to know if that keeps you bed bound? Do they let you up if you're numb from the waist down? I had one with my son's birth and they kept me in bed for 2 days until it wore off. Not fun :( .

This just gave me a chuckle
I went to pick up my Vortirent yesterday and the pharmacist had me stay for 30 minutes to go over a few things. She talked about possible side effects, how to store this medication, and just a few other instructions. One of these just made me break out laughing, but I'm sure she didn't get it. She told me that for the…
