Picking a spot under the radar.
Mark is in his last full week of treatments. He has 2 days next week (last chemo on Monday and last rad on Tuesday). While he is doing remarkably well, he has psychologically defined this week as, "going to be rough". He is burned out by the treatments, by not being able to taste food, by having a tube hanging out of his…

Mouth Ulcers
It seems as though I spend half my day cleansing my mouth: flossing, brushing, flouride trays, salt water and baking soda gargles, L-Glutamine and then do it all again. But hey, its been pretty effective so far, I have had only minor problems with mouth/tongue ulcers. I do the salt water and baking soda gargle through-out…

Saw my ENT today (Dr G). He walks in and says, "Hey, good to see you! You're looking great! Hey that PET scan, you know when I see one like yours I've never seen a patient get a recurrence so I think it's safe to say you're cured. There is the 5-year rule, but in my experience I think it's safe to say you are out of the…

PET/CT during treatment
Hi Folks, I've just completed completed my 25th rad, only 10 more to go!!! This week they also did a PET/CT. The rad doc was quite upbeat with the result which showed a roughly 60-70% reduction of the cancerous area on my BOT. He said normally they would see about 30-40% reduction at this point in the treatment. So, yes…

I just read an article that indicated that people who drank 4 cups of coffee a day were 39% less likely to get H&N cancers. I easily drank that much. Just curious about others out there? My big question though is, has anyone done much research on drinking coffee post-treatment? That is the Number 1 thing I miss! I just…

Exercise during treatment
