I just saw my doctor and now know I have squamous cell cancer that has metastasized to lymph nodes on both sides of my neck, but thankfully has not gone anywhere else. Surgery tomorrow to confirm that the primary is at the base of my tongue. But nothing is going to be cut out. Some questions: Doc says 6 weeks of daily…

High blood sugar
Can anyone shed any light on this? A bit of background. Before cancer I had packed on the weight by eating/drinking too much and exercising too little. (Little did I know that excess weight would soon be a good thing!) I weighed over 190 pounds when I should have been more like 160. After I had my first of three rounds of…

Aches, Pains & Concerns ~ Which MD to Call
It seems this comes up a lot...and I know that I've had these same concerns and questions. At what point (and if the concerns are going on in an area that was treated), do you feel comfortable seeing your GM or PCP? I know that I have had, and still continue to have various aches, pains & concerns with swollen glands, an…

Lymph nodes taken out and swelling happens.Possibly for life.
Hi I am new at this site and am looking for someone who is experiencing the same as I am. Feb.8,2010 I had 25 lymph nodes taken out of the left side of my neck. I then had 30 days radiation. That took care of my saliva gland on that side. Also affected the bones under my teeth. So not to get cavities or have extractions I…

Two articles. One chef loses his taste and smell and 'Nil by Mouth'.
I sort of wondered what happened to Carlo Middione as I haven't seen him on the food scene for a while. I sort of figured it was just because I have been out of the food loop since 2007. My dad was cooking for me so I wasn't and then I didn't eat any food for nine months with the side effects from my radiation. Lemme just…

I brought a load of laundry up to the bedroom and he wasn't in his bed. I figured he was in the bathroom and i could hear a gurgling noise. but I hear that all the time when he is trying to…

The title of this post should get a lot of attention. My hubby, Buzz, just completed treatment. A troublesome problem he is having now is vomiting after gagging on all that thick mucus. esophageal spasms?
Has anyone else had this? It appears that if I am eating something too hot, too cold or too fast, I get terrible pain in the esophageal area, where you would have heartburn, but more of a cramping feeling. I have to stop eating for about a half hour and then try again, really weird feeling? Any thoughts? Thanks Stacey
