Insulin now??
Well, another chapter to the story. My new chemo is making my blood sugars raise. So....my doctor put me on insulin on a sliding scale. If it's not up, no shot in the tummy. If it is, yippee!!! It was running between 265-300 the night before I went to the doctor. Today it has been fine. Thank God. Just wanted you to know…

Feeling better
I called my chemo doctor's office today and I feel much better. I asked her if my chemo doctor was giving up on me. She said just the opposite is true. They are trying me on camptosar alone, because when I had chemo last year, I obviously had it too, not that I remember though, but it's in my records. He said I had a very…

Not great Rapport with Doc
Hi again, I always seem to post in twos. I had 3rd chemo today. I saw the Oncologists for about 10 minutes. I have pretty good confidence that he is very competent. But....I don't click with him at all. He doesn't seem to have the patience at all to answer my questions. This is my 3rd Chemo appt and each time I see him it…

Hi all... It would have been 3 years in June that I have been without cancer but just found out last week that it is back in my lung. I had that removed and will be starting chemo again next week. My twins will be 4 in June so it's going to be much harder this time! Any suggestions on what to tell young kids when mommy is…

Now I'm really confused
Well, in my previous post, I kinda talked about my chemo doctor more or less giving up on me. Well,my blood counts were up enough to do chemo today. I went in thinking I was going to the FOLFIRI, because he told me that in February, when I was last able to do chemo. That meant lecovorin, FU by pump over 3 days and…

Calcium and Magnesium for Neuropathy
My apologies if this has been posted or discussed elsewhere. My wife's oncologist recently added infusion of a calcium/magnesium mix for her oxaliplatin-related neuropathy (she has finished 9 of the 12 treatments). This was infused prior to treatment no. 9 and made a big difference for her. It will now be used prior to her…

More bad news
I went to the chemo doctor today and my counts are up, so I'm starting FOLFIRI tomorrow. That's the good news. The bad news is that he says that if this doesn't work, then he doesn't think we're going to beat this. He said he would make sure that I would be comfortable. They put me on the patch for pain and I'm to take the…

I'm told this does go away after chemo is stopped…
