Life's cruel irony
My former neighbor Viktoria was struck and killed while crossing the street early this morning. She refused a ride home from her intoxicated friend Toli. Toli made it several miles to his home but was stopped and charged with DUI. Viktoria didn't make it to her home, she was run over by a sober driver, no charges are going…

The BEST halloween 'trick' I have ever had!!!!!
We normally get many people outside of our neighborhood that come to the door on this scary night, so I lay in the 'good stuff' for all (thank 99cent only store...lol!) This year, 2 young ladies appeared at the door, and I gave them their chocolate, and my advice to 'be careful crossing the street, it's busy here'. They…

Probiotics question.
Hi all. I started taking a probiotic almost 2 weeks ago. So far, I am very pleased with the results. Seems to have firmed things up and the frequency has slowed a bit. Unfortunately, the side effects have been gas and gas pain. Does anyone take anything for these side effects? Or do you even get the gas? Does it get…

Cold.... So cold answer
I talked to my dr on Monday about getting "so Cold" that I just shake. He thinks it's just my body reacting to the Oxy (Chemo). Wants me to check temp before hot bath then again a 1/2 hour after the hot bath and start a log for him. But he thinks it's my body fighting to get well. Kinda of like when you have the flu. He…

Neuropathy
I was wondering if anyone that has finished folfox treatment has tried Alpha Lipoic Acid. It is an essential amino acid and an antioxident so those of us who are currently taking chemo might not be able to use it. My brother is a diabetic and has taken this for his neuropathy and it really helped him. The information that…

Only 2nd day of treatment
Well, it's only the 2nd day of treatment (radiation and oral Xeloda after transanal excision for stage I, T2 rectal cancer) and surprised at how crappy I feel. Nausea, tired. When I had seen the oncologist prior to this, it sounded like this dosage of Xeloda (500 mg, 3 pills, twice daily) was not a big deal. I force myself…

Well, my husband was able to get the PET scan after radioactive shot number 2. Intensity of…

Trying to convince PCP to allow colonoscopy - update
I've got an appointment to meet with my PCP next week to try to convince him to allow a colonoscopy for me at age 45. I told his nurse that my mother has a history of pre-cancerous polyps, that there's occasional blood, and lots of cancer in my family, and even with that they said I'm way too young, but they're willing to…

Sometimes I get so COLD... HELP
Hello my friends. I hope this finds everybody doing fine today. I have a problem that seems to be getting worse as time goes by. Three to four times a day I get cold. Now I’m not talking about a chill. I mean cold cold where I just shake cold. When I get this way I go take a hot bath and it seems to do the trick for a few…

Feet are Itching
I have neuropathy in my hands and feet (mostly feet) and they itch so bad. Like you need to take an ink pin or something sharp to itch it, but the itch just doesn't go away. I wondered if anyone else has experienced this. I don't know if this has something to do with the nerves or not, but it is very irritating. Kim

Tomorrow I'll be over the Hump
Just thought I'd let everyone know that tomorrow I'll be having my 5th out of 9 of my last chemo treatments. That means.... I made it over the hump. "All down hill from here" When this whole thing started on April 12th 2009 I would have never dreamed that I could come this far. I have not only fought cancer but I have…

To drink or not to drink
Hello everyone. I know that this is not as serious as most of our situations. Just wondering if anyone still has that occasional glass of wine. I am not a big drinker, but sometimes just want to unwind with a glass. Got scared to death from having just one glass when I read a study the other day that was done in Britain on…

Was supposed to start chemo again today but port didnot work and visit to hospital couldn't get it to work either.
