Friday Riddle*
Nudgie is out of town and asked if I would post a riddle today. Since last weeks went over like a lead balloon for the most part, I'll try this one instead. You know the rules, no Google or Internet searches allowed. What is it that when you take away the whole, you still have some left over? *Nudgie is NOT responsible of…

calling all long term stage IV lurkers
I go onto other cancer sites and lurk, this is the only one that I post comments. So, I was wondering if their are any longterm stage IV's or at any stage, who are out there that may be lurking, that would come on and offer support and treatment plan? We have many on here posting and offering amazing help to others. Just…

OMG Is this good news? I think it is….
My Oncologist is one smart man and I just love him to death. He’s been doing this for almost 30 years and he specializes in Colorectal cancers. He’s the head of a lot of studies and fly’s around from state to state. So he knows his **** “So to speak“ LOL. Yesterday when I seen him he wanted me to do some things with my…

my apology
to those whom i have offended by my use of all capital letters in my postings; please accept my humble and sincerest apologies.my intention was not to yell or seem angry. i guess i am just not so good at typing.

I hope I don't offend
When we first started this journey I was told my the nurse practioner that I could not make love to my husband without a condom, is this true for the two weeks in between? It is really miserable this way and very unfulfilling for me. How long does chemo stay in the body? and how would this hurt him? Patti No offense just…

I'm not Wild:(
Well I'm getting chemo right now and my oncologist stopped by to update me. She stated that my CEA was 1.5 which is good but I'm KRAS mutated so in the future my treatment options may be limited. I just feel that things are getting better bad news never stops coming. I'm just disappointed. People anyways tell me that I'm…

I just made another post and forgot to ask about this. I have not been eating much over the past few weeks. Nothing sounds or looks or tastes good. I have lost 65 pounds now. BUT.. that is ok because I am really a fat person and can afford it... off subject... On turkey day I stuffed myself..not the bird... I mean I ate…

Just Sittin' Here Alone at Home - Missing You and Thinkin' of You Tonight
Good evening, Everybody This is rather impromptu but as sometimes happens, emotions got the best of me and I decided to reach out to you this evening for a "touch." I'm not one for bearing my weaknesses too much but I was feeling particularly lonely this evening - cold weather has settled into Texas, the house is dark and…

An amazing group of people
I am sitting here at work and checking the boards, and I cannot beleive how wonderful and supportive you all are. I never thought that when I was diagnosed with cancer that I would stumble upon a network of people with the same disease, that can help and guide each other. I have been on another board since my DX, however…

Just got back from my ONC and my CEA is 1.1 and no signs of the beast at all!!! I am so excited. I have so much to be thankful for and I am just bouncing off the walls. What a relief, I still have to have check ups but to me this is like a milestone that I have gotten past and I just feel like the weight of the world has…

Frightened in Richmond Texas
Hello, My name is Mary, I am 50 and there is no history of colon cancer in my family. Today I went and saw a colon surgeon! I had a colonoscopy Nov. 2. My dr found a "soft tissue mass" and could not biopsy it because of my upper colon has so many turns. Anyway, I had a CT scan the day after Thanksgiving and there is…

Colonoscopy for stage 4 patients?
Do any of you stage 4 patients still get colonoscopies? I have lung mets. I suppose it would still be a good thing to do in case there were polyps you could cut them out, right? Together in hope, Susan

PET scan question...
How soon after you have a chemo treatment can you have a PET scan? My onc. always told me you need to wait about a week. Now he is sending me Wednesday... 15 minutes after I get my pump disconnected. It just don't seem right to have all that fresh chemo juice running thru your veins and then put all that radioactive crap…

Just want you all to know
Everyone, I have only been posting here since the weekend. I have told a number of my family and friends how excited I am to have found a supportive, caring, compassionate, sharing and sincere group of people to communicate with. I will be honest some of them "just don't get it". I don't really expect that they would. That…

My mom was dx in Nov 07 stage IV colon cancer. She had 12 rounds of folfox, her CEA got down to 8.9. She was switched to fFU w avastin, after four months her CEA started to rise. She was switched to irrinotecan her CEA went down and then started to rise. She had a scan and now she's back on folfox due to changes in liver…

JohnSFO is a colostomate
Hey Gang, The surgery went really well, although it took a long time (nearly 5 hours). We were really happy with the surgeon who did it as well as the rest of the team. They were going to see if it might have been possible to remove some of the tumor (which we had been told was inoperable), but once they got in there they…

Help Needed
Hi there I have been reading the posts on here for a little while. Today feeling nothing but despair I decided to post a message and see if anyone can offer help, advice or information. My husband and I live in the UK. My husband is 39. He was diagnosed with bowel cancer in May this year. By the time he was diagnosed the…

Alternatives to Chemo??? Has Anyone Here done that?
My heart is breaking for everyone posting about recurrances and mets to liver. My sister is making me read Suzanne Sommer's "KnockOut" a book that interviews 10 Doctors disillusioned with the Chemo Industry and their alternative therapies to Chemo. The very thing I was hoping for- being resectable so my liver mets can be…

my PET scan results
Well, my PET scan results are kind of what I was expecting- not great, but could have been worse, I guess. My "multiple pulmonary nodules" are stable in size, but their uptake (metabolic activity) has become more intense in all nodules. I also now have a new liver tumor along the edge of where my liver resection was.…
