Chronic Cough
I believe that I have mentioned that I have had this cough that I can't seem to get rid of and thought that it could possibly be cancer in the lungs. Well my cough got so bad that I was going without sleep. I went to see a new primary care doctor and he said I had a touch of asthma, but that he needed to do x-rays. I asked…

My Favorite Insurance Stalling Tactics
I have been dealing with this all morning. I don't really get upset anymore because I realize what it is. 1. You need to fill out this form stating whether you have another insurance and we are going to deny anything that comes in, until you do. 2. Docs that you have been using all of a sudden become Out of Network.

I was told that 90% of recurrence happens in the first year.
My oncologist told me that with colon cancer if there is a recurrence then it will happen within the first year in 90% of the cases. What he wasn’t clear on is if the recurrence happens one year after the last chemo treatment, or one year after the resection. My last chemo treatment was six months ago, and my resection was…

Sharing of a poem written by eric38
Thought that I would share eric38' Turkey Poem (Just a little humor for Thanksgiving) Thanksgiving Turkey Leonard was a turkey of the friendly kind, everyone was trustworthy in Leonard's turkey mind. He lived with his family until one fateful day a farmer came and took Leonard the trusting turkey away. Leonard was leary at…

Now I know how and why I can beat this crap
I have learned that you find who your true friends are and who really cares for you when you get onto a cancer journey. It does warm the heart. Just as you all have for me here. It is better then croaking quickly with a heart attack and never knowing how folks really felt about you. I got this statement in an email from…

Good news!
My Mom - IIB T4- dx almost 2 years ago to the date with emergency resection followed by chemo- had follow up CT scan today. ALL CLEAR!!!! Her CEA is < .005. This is amazing news- as she hasn't been feeling well for a few months with mainly generalized body pain and fatigue. We are so thankful with her news! My youngest…

The Old Lady is Starting College
I did my college assessment today, and I'm not as dumb book wise as I thought. I get to take the "big kids" college courses and no remedial. Not bad for someone that got out of school 35 years ago, with only a GED so she could join the Air Force!!! It'll be 3 months before school starts (I think) time for some recovery…

What a screwed up day with my screwed up brain
My Rad Onc at the country hospital called and she said the guy that reads the MRI said the tumor looks like a benign one like Pat talked about with her mother. The Onc said I should at least get a biopsy done. This was a damn nice way to start the day. Should have known better then to get too positive. We then get with the…

Funny story.......at least to me
This morning my husband took the kids to school and then came home to work on his outbuilding he is building. I said to myself, " come on self, get up and bath and let's work.". Right now I have ascites so my belly is big. I was just lying in my tub looking at my big ol' belly reminiscing of being pregnant. I had twins, so…

Deer season is the best damn time to clear your head
I did not get a deer yet. Next season I am moving my damn deer stand. However, this has been a great weekend with my sons and grandsons. The dump bed of the Kubota is well stained with deer blood. The highlight so far was the 13 year old grandson getting his deer. The second place winner was him puking while gutting it.…

When Life as it is doesn't seem to be that great anymore...........a survivors perspective
March 25th 2008, a date that would change my life forever. I lost all reason to continue to move forward doing the things that I knew needed done. I lost all of my chances at dreams to retire and take life easy. I spent more money in the last 2 years than I have in my entire life with this. I spent 2 years worrying about…

John (JR)
Hello everyone, I have lost track of everyone on the board. My focus has been on John. He isn't doing good at all. He isn't eating much at all. Hospice is coming once a week. I feel so helpless. We still talk and watch TV together. I do know it won't be long. All of you keep up the fight. You all are in my heart because…

Well enough to get 'normal' sick....lol!
So, I have been down for the count for the last 4 days from bronchitis. YIKES!!! I feel like every time I cough, I'm bring up a lung!!!! For me, I've been lucky to be healthy (well all the small stuff...lol...not the big stuff like cancer) for all of my life, and so this has got me down on the couch! I went to the doctor…

cyberknife for recurrent rectal tumor a no-go & update on other
I went in for a cyberknife consultation this morning to discuss both the possibility of having cyberknife instead of surgery (anal excision) on my recurrent rectal tumor (now about a 1/2 cm) & I also wanted them to see if I could have cyberknife for 1 or 2 of my lung nodules that seem more chemo resistant. The jury is…
