Spot on Face
I have put this subject off for quite some time and now I must face it (no pun intended) I have this reddish spot on my cheek about 1/2" away from my nose. It came and went for the past year but now it has decided to stay and of course I am thinking it is skin cancer. I have compared it to all the pictures on the internet…

After treatment...what happens with support then??
I have had unbelievable support when I was diagnosed, during my treatments and with all of my appointments and I am eternally grateful to all of my family and friends for all of that!! But now that I am "Cancer free" and not in "treatments" what do I do now? I need more now than I did when in treatment and no one knows…

Hi all! I am Suzanne and have been reading your posts for months, but this is my first post. I was diagnosed in August of '09 with stage 3 colon cancer. I had my colon removed and now have a bag. I went through 6 months of chemo (Folfox and oxi) and handled it quite well. I then had a reocurrance in my ovary and had a…

Back in the States and back to business
I'm back from Guatemala. I didn't have everything treated that I wanted but they did save my life for now. I had reported earlier that the Drs had abruptly changed my treatment plan and I got very sick. Well, the reason they changed my treatment was because they discovered a conglomerated mass of tumors in a terribly bad…

C Dixon Update on 6 weeks of Radiation Therapy and Drama
I hope y'all don't mind if I just copy and paste the update I put on my page. It is a lot to type again. 9/9/10: I had a successful liver resection and am recovering nicely. One of the lesions was close to the blood supply for the left lobe, so the surgeon could only get so close. He sent a biopsy of the remaining tissue…

www.clinicaltrials.gov
Hey Everybody, In my quest to figure out what I need to do next at this point in my cancer fight, I just read through all 813 clinical trials listed under the clinicaltrials.gov website for either solid tumors or colorectal cancer(that number very well may be different when/if you do a search- it depends upon what you put…

Stuffed Mushroom Recipe
OK this is just a basic idea of how I make them because it all depends on how many mushrooms you have so therefore no measurements. I make about 3 pans 9 x 9 (or close to that) these are the amounts I would use Cut about half of the mushroom stems in small pieces (if stems are short cut more than 1/2) Chop Onion (I love…

I think everything will work out fine, but today I leave to go up North for surgery on Friday. Not looking forward surgery again so soon (was 5 weeks ago), or delaying chemo, but I am (hesitantly) looking forward to having my iliostomy reversed. I hope everyone does well here over the next week. Happy Veteran's Day…

Why Don't PET scans do Your Head????
I have often wondered this. The PET goes from where to where??? Chin to knees???? I am not exactly sure but I do know it does not do your entire head. So why not? What is the logic there? And how do they know if any cancer is in your brain BEFORE symptoms occur??? I am thinking a few of you smart people know this???? Thank…

Do you remember your first Real Laugh after dx?
I was just curious if anyone had such a moment that they realized that they really laughed after being diagnosed. I knew I wasn’t laughing for quite a while and no matter what it was … nothing seemed to be funny to me and it really made me sad when I’d hear or see something that would have normally gotten at least a…

Scans without a port for meds
So I had an appointment with my Onc yesterday. He gave me the green light to get my port removed. Today I recalled the nurse from my last scan saying how much she loved utilizing the port for the med that makes you feel all warm inside (forgive me I forget the name). She was talking to another nurse at the time and I think…

Question on Pet Scans
Okay, so I had my Pet Scan today, they told me they were doing this to see my tumors better. My last scan was a CT Scan in August, where they said they could barely see the tumors in my liver, etc., except for my colon and that had shrunk too. Today, after my pet scan I'm in the gyn cancer oncologist's office to make sure…

I had a brain scan this morning
Well my cyber friends, I had a problem this week. Monday and Tuesday I had episodes of being mentally out of it for about 5 minutes. One each day. I had a brain scan this morning and I now have a cancer tumor in the brain that is 2cm X 2cm. I don’t know yet if it is operable. The scary old woman just left to pick up some…

The comfort of a Mother
Tomorrow I leave my mother (I hope I see her again this Thanksgiving, hoping to go back up before surgery)been trying to convince her, she won't die from too much talking on the phone, or going down her steps to go outdoors and enjoy her flowers. The child has become the parent, the parent the trying child. I realize I'm…

FOLFOX #2 , Charlie Chaplin, Orville Redenbacher, Eric Clapton and dead baby chickens
I'm channeling Charlie Chaplan, sound like Orville Redenbacher, listening to Eric Clapton and it tastes like dead baby chickens. Just to start things out right, I will report that I did again have a reaction to the oxy eventhough pre-meded. Only this time, it got noon o’clock and everyone comes over to me and checks on me.…
