Surgery or Chemo first
Hi everyone, my 36 yo wife was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer last July, and went through 5 weeks of radiation and chemo followed by complete colectomy last November. We thought things were going well and were scheduled to start 6 months of Folfox last week, when they found some lesions on her liver. We have now been…

Plan in place, but need advice
Hi friends, I, too, have some bad news. I met with Dr. Lenz on Thursday about my reoccurance in three lymph nodes. He thinks I should start on Folfiri and Erbitux and follow that with radiation. Once everything is clear then he recommends HIPEC to kill any remaining cells. It is all so overwhelming and difficult to deal…

Hypodense and calcified lesions
Hi, If lesions (metastasis) on the liver are hypodense and calcified (on CT scan), is a good, bad or doesn't matter? From my research, it seems that calcification means lesions are "old" so there's no new lesion (which would be non-calcified)? Cheers.

husband's stress
This is my first time here. I may not get to review it daily but every chance I get. My dr. suggested this for me so here I am. I feel helpless and don't have anywhere to turn mostly just to express something I don't even know how to discribe. I was married to my husband (the first time) in 1995 and was married for 9 years…

I'm scared
Not sure how to do this. I'm scared. I have been reading the posts here and feeling so sad for so many of you. I'll start to respond to some of your posts and just get so sad and click out (sorry...I run away) or I'll start to write questions and then stop because sometimes the questions seem so trivial in light of what's…

Surprisingly, businesswire.com at times has useful items on CRC
such as that of 1/18 pertaining to a Phase I clinicl trial at Johns Hopkins Univ Hosp, Duke Univ Med Center and North Shore Long Island Jewish Med Center for NPC-1C-Ensituximab-- "Data on Neogenix Oncology's Novel Therapeutic Antibody NPC-1C.........." Today, this site carried an article titled "Merck Serono: Erbitux…

Changing Jobs, Insurance
I am thinking about changing jobs, so that would mean new health insurance. It makes me nervous because I think you can only be without insurance for 61 days, after that pre existing applies. Anyone else deal with this? I of course will not mention any cancer stuff in my interview, but worry about the insurance switch. On…

I just never know what to say so i tend to keep my mouth shut. When I read of another's passing I can't help but think, one day soon that will be me. You are all so carring and…

Looking Good, Feeling Better program for women
Hey Everyone, I just wanted to report back after attending one of the "Looking Good, Feeling Better" workshop for women with cancer. These workshops are put on by the (in my case) Canada Cancer Agency and the Hair/Cosmetics Association. These same, or similar workshops are held across Canada, in the US, and Australia...…

Waiting and Waiting!
Well, last week I went to SF and met with Dr. Munster. It was a long trip for a short visit, but I guess that is how you have to do it when you do trials. Instead of telling me they had a trial for me to start now, I was told about a new trial that isn't approved yet, but is supposed to be approved this next week. The…

Good news!
Hi everyone - Rick and I are currently at Dana Garner and we just got the scan results back - ALL CLEAR! No more chemo! The new doctor is recommending increasing D levels and starting an alternative diet including Chinese herbs. John - I know you'll like that! In fact, I used your case as an example. Love to you all -…

Update on my mom (va-beekeeper)
Happy Wednesday! I wanted to start by thanking everyone who responded with such positive things when I first posted about my mom being diagnosed. We have remained optimistic as she has started her chemo treatments. She will be on 12 rounds of 5FU, Oxi and something with an "L", which seems to be a standard regimen for her…

Hi everyone! Ok... update on the ongoing adventure! This week I guess ends my holiday from treatments/medical appts. I guess. mixed PET results & question re radiation for bone mets
Brief background: I'm on Xeliri + Avastin for bone mets. Done 16 cycles so far and side effects not too bad. I had a PET scan yesterday and got the results today. Mixed news. The good news is that the pre-existing mets have ALL shrunk further -- and one has disappeared completely. So, the chemo is still working. (Also,…
