Food mobility rate when you're at stage IV with severe diarrhea
Doea anyone know how soon something ingested gets passed, or a food item impacts the digestive system? My mom has days when she might go to the bathroom 4 or 5 times the whole day, and other days where she goes that amount in the space of an hour. She's stage IV, with mets in the liver and lungs. It would be really helpful…

Mother with stage IV colon cancer, now in the liver and lungs too
Hi everyone, This is my first time posting on these boards, and I hope that someone will have some insight that can help me, because so far searching via Google has proven less than enlightening. My mom was diagnosed with colon cancer at the end of January, and two weeks later her doctors determined that it was stage IV,…

Hey everyone! So, we're home now, he got to come home Wednesday. They never did find a reason for the fever though. He's on Cipro for 5 days & is scheduled to get chemo Wednesday. (it was postponed a week) His fever went back up last night, 102.1 & he was having pain on the left side, it was up high & around his side & up…

Are Cancer Victims/Survivors Being Denied a Full and Impartial "Hearing"
Are the 1930s Propaganda Film "Reefer Madness" and America's endless and futile "War on Drugs" denying us as cancer patients a possible cure or new treatment for this horrible disease? Read the article the following link leads to, check out the sources and join the debate:…

Back in the hospital....
I guess I shouldn't have been bragging about how well Jason is doing, he had a fever of 103.1 this evening & we are back in the hospital. UGHHH! His fever is down now (99.8), chest x-ray was alright, urine was good, blood work showed his WBC was 3.9 (I think?) so they aren't sure where the infection is but are pretty sure…

Treatment #4
Got treatment #4 yesterday. So far so good. Little nausea but bearable. Appetite is definitely down and the constipation is back! Hate that part. Even came in to work today wearing my fanny pack but might not last the whole day. Tomorrow I get unhooked and it's a work holiday so I don't have to burn a vacation day. Yeah!!!…

Radiation. Tell me all about it.
I'm so excited to have only four more chemo session on this round, but it also means that after a 3 week break, I head into the radiation/chemo and I have to admit, I am very, VERY anxious about it. I've read enough on here to scare me. I guess I feel like I'm going to suffer through every side effect out there. I'll be…

I have not been on lately, but learned
something new today. Robert has adenosquamous carcinoma of the colon, which is pretty rare and the prognosis for stage IV is not as good as the more common adenocarcinoma. Didn't know there was this type... "The clinical signs and symptoms of colonic Ad-SCC are the same as those for a typical colonic adenocarcinoma, but…

Side effects & outcomes with Avastin?....
Jason goes Wednesday for his third chemo treatment (Oxaliplatin, 5-FU & Leucovorin). His oncologist told him during the consultation re: the chemo that he wants to start him on Avastin but wanted to wait until his incision from the surgery on 2/8 is completely healed due to bleeding issues that can be caused by Avastin.…

Cell Phones....could they be the cause?!
Tonight Jason just out of the blue said "you know what I just thought of?....where do I carry my cell phone? (on his right hip) & WHERE is my tumor? (his RIGHT side, which is apparently not that common for colon cancer) so, that really made me think. So, of course I sat down & Googled it & from what I read there hasn't…

1st Chemo Week
Hi everyone. I hope we all are hanging in there. My mom is doing fine with her chemo regimen (Oxalipatin, Xeloda 3,300 mg and Tamoxifen 20 mg). So far, the side effects were tolerable for her (dizziness, nausea and sensitivity to cold). Today marks her first week and I am thankful that she is showing strength. I still have…

Irrotecan - extreme fatigue
Last Monday I had my first full dose of irrotecan and I have been extremely fatigued. I get chemo on Mondays and usually by Thursday or Friday I am pretty much normal but this week I just couldn't make it. It's Tuesday and I'm still tired. Not looking forward to starting this again on Monday.

I've been busy admiring my body
Yep, my date of a new scar is looming on the horizon. And yes, my name is WOMAN, so hell yes I'm vain. I'm thinking how great my tummy looks now (well, for the past few years of old age, I've been thinking otherwise, funny how cancer can change an attitude)and how I'm going to miss the "smoothness" of it. I do this surgery…
