Is the night time the right time for 5-FU?
Is 5-Fu given via a pump to take home for 46 hours done so because during the night time liver enzymes that detoxify the liver are more abundant than during the day thus making the 5-Fu less toxic?- never thought about this......

Blame the victim?
Just wondering/venting.....so it seems like our society is either take no blame for anything...or place the blame on the victim. I just found out that the doctor that delivered my last 2 babies has breast cancer. I called to schedule my overdue visit - I've been terrified of going to the doctors, in fear of anymore bad…

Irrotecan
I'm having terrible fatigue with the Irrotecan and it takes me to a dark place where I just want to stop chemo. I know irrotecan is powerful but is it worth it if I am on chemo for life. Even my sweet husband is telling me that I'm just not me any more.

Nigerian Fraud
Hi, all. I recently got a message thru this board from a man who wanted a relationship. He claimed he had had cancer and wanted to communicate with a woman who "understood." The English writing was so-so, and his photo had a picture of a white guy with a iittle boy. He was not an active poster in this group. I did not…

For Stage IV survivors with continuing progression - what chemo combo is working for you?
Just trying to get new ideas out there for those of us who have to keep trying new chemos to stop progression. We are usually jumping from one chemo to the next after the Onc decides it stopped working. Let's share our traditional mainstream chemos and experimental or non-traditional cocktails with one another. I've been…

symptoms
Hi all, As of May 3rd, I am a one year breast cancer survivor. Yay! DONE forever... Having said that, I have an issue that I'm hoping isn't a symptom. I've had bowel habit changes for quite a few months and increasingly, but still intermittently flattened stools on one side. Is that something I should be concerned about? I…

Wig Shopping Begins
Hair continues falling out and now there's no choice but a wig. In my four year battle I had never lost hair. Feeling insecure and sorry for myself. How much more does God think I can handle?

Dentist
Anybody else have their onc doctor tell them not to go to the dentist? It has been a year since my teeth were cleaned and I really feel I should keep on with my dental hygiene. I still floss even though it makes my gums bleed sometimes. Thanks, Debbie

Best New York cancer centers?
For the past two months my mom has been seeing doctors at the NYU Langone Center. The hospital was recommended to her by way of a friend who has an oncologist friend, and this was the oncologist friend's recommendation. She really likes her doctors, they have a great bedside manner (I've witnessed that on visits with her…

Home. Again.....*grin*
SUCH an easy travel this time! Our good friends took us all the way to Schiphol, saving us the train experience (baggage in/baggage out). Then we were pre-boarded (frequent flyer) and snagged the best overheads. Flight was good (10 hours, 25 minutes), we slept much of it, but I watched 2 movies on my in-seat screen. In…

Still Here
Sorry I've been gone so long, it's been a rough stretch of road. I had two very nasty reactions to Oxy when they tried it on me again. The first time, I fell over during treatment and cut my eyebrow. The second, my temp hit 103 and my oxygen level fell to 76%. My onc said if we were to try it just one more time the…

Diet questions and frustration
This post is for my mother, who has stage IV colon cancer, with mets to the lungs and liver. She has severe diarrhea issues, and the location of her tumor (8 cm) gives her constant pain, because it's at the very end of the descending colon. She started taking the Fentanyl patch recently, which has brought her significant…
