What is CEA
Everyone with colorectal cancer is aware of CEA, short for Carcinoembryonic Antigen and watches their levels very closely. However, not many seem to know what CEA actually is, what it does and why its important. Here is my take on CEA: CEA is the oldest known marker for colorectal cancer (identified in 1965). It is…

Gene Therapy - Very Interesting!
Hi all, Don’t post much but I do check in once and awhile to see how everyone is doing. Long story short, I was diagnosed with stage 2 rectal cancer in January 2011. Had surgery followed by chemo + radiation and then more chemo. (I know chemo for someone who is stage 2 is controversial but felt it was the best choice for…

I started this new thread because I thought this was an interesting topic ... it was brought up in AHelstrup's message. Thought some might be interested. Wishing everyone the best. -- Cynthia .... But let’s get back to the launching off point for this post. Does any of this mean that there’s any truth to the contention…

Counseling/Therapy
Steve and I recently spent time talking to a nurse practitioner while waiting for Steve's Thrombosis doctor. We updated her with regards to the recent spontaneous hematoma and the extremely difficult and lengthy hospital stay. Optimistic for now
Well folks you know how things go. George has a CEA of 2.4 and NED on Pet & CT. For now we are thrilled. He is on Vectibix only for now and it is working for him. We know, however, that what works today may not work tomorrow. For now we will just relax a little. Thing is about 75% of his Pet & CT scans come back negative…

Care to share one kind thing you will do for yourself today?
Sometimes my husband, who is the one with cancer and myself as his caregiver, forget to do things specifically for ourselves. We are each trying to help each other or our son most of the time and lose sight of being kind to ourselves. Each day we try to encourage each other to do something just for ourselves, as…
