Test results
I received the good news that my bone scan was normal! The blood tests however revealed some liver abnormalities, so I am scheduled for some repeat liver enzyme tests and a liver CAT scan in the next week or so. THe oncologist says that there is a possibility that the enzymes are elevated due to fatty changes. I have been…

Reflection
I don't sleep much anymore. I don't eat much anymore. I haven't been able to work lately. I just wonder when it will all turn around for me. I just wonder when I too will feel free from this disease and all it has brought with it. I just, I just, always wonder. I almost lost my mother this New Years Eve to a freak…

I just want to say thank's for the information and support. I know I'm not the only one going through this but it is so helpful to be able to talk to others. An Interesting Year
Once again I find myself looking back over the past few years only to realize I don't have to look back very far to see how interesting life can be. I made it through the Christmas season without too many problems, eating less and drinking more. Even managed to get a few cocktails down. I found some medication that tamed…

Anyone had these post-chemo/radiation symptoms?
Sorry, I haven't participated in this chat group in several months. Life got very busy with daily radiation while continuing to work. I finished 6 weeks of radiation about 7 weeks ago (just before Thanksgiving); prior to that I went through a lumpectomy and 4 rounds of chemo. My treatment was complicated by the fact that I…

More cancer cases
Hi everyone! I just heard a report that said the area of the USA that reported the most cancer cases was Washington, D.C.; and the area of the country that reported the least cases was Utah!! The question that was discussed was the fact that a large number of Mormans live in Utah and they don't smoke, drink alcohol or…

Which is better Tram FLAp or inplants
I am facing mastectomy with breast reconstruction. I think I prefer the tram flap method. IMplants frighten me. Can I hear from someone with inplants and someone that had the tram flap method. Good and/or bad experiences. Why you came to your choice? Thank You

As The Year Draws To An End
2001 has been a life changing year for me. On New Years Eve I will complete my radiation treatments and start the new year free from cancer. Since being diagnosed in June I feel that I have lived a double life. One as a patient and another as the person. I'm hoping that at the end of this year I will emerge a new person,…

Taxotere
Had first of 6 cycles of Taxotere yesterday. SO far no problems except for bad taste of everything since & usual hot flushes from steroid meds. Seems that my markers are moving very fast in the wrong direction - over 60 points in only 2 weeks so something had to be done. Let's hope this chemo works. Love to all. Pam

aromatase inhibitors vs. tamoxifen
Did anyone hear the news from the San Antonio convention - new drugs (aromatase inhibitors) show 17% improvement over tamoxifen for reducing the incidence of recurrence of breast cancer. The new drugs suppress the estrogen without the side effects of tamoxifen - i.e., hot flashes, possibility of uterine cancer, and blood…

Bone scan questions
Hello Friends, I am scheduled for a bone scan in two weeks due to some pain I've been experiencing. My questions are: 1) Is it painful? 2)What does it entail? I know they inject me with something, but I don't know what happens after that. I was too dumb to ask these questions of my oncologist. Any help would be appreciated…
