Newcomer with questions on TAC chemo
I have soooo many questions, I don't even know where to start. I had a lumpectomy on Feb. 17th and mammosite rediation a week later. Now for the hard part. My chemo starts next Tuesday(TAC). I'd like to know what to expect. I'm reading a lot of scary stuff! What I dread most I think is the nausea. Any positive news out…

Today's funny
I just saw this on another website and thought it was very appropriate for us. Enjoy!! It is a fact that Eve was created first and when God was finished He asked Eve what she thought. "I like it", she said as she looked at her image in a pool of water. "Except for one thing." "Oh?" Asked God, looking Eve up and down. "Yes,…

Can't Believe It (Off subject)
Yesterday when I came home about 4 pm I noticed a dog under my husband's truck. I mentioned it to him and he said that it had been around the neighborhood for a few days. We live on a very busy street, with a 1/2 acre lot and a big fenced in back yard. He said that the dog would probably get run over. About 8 pm he passed…

Hi All, I just needed to vent. I had a VERY emotional day yesterday & am still trying to figure out where it came from! I am done with treatments, but will have my other breast removed & reconstruction this summer. I am new to Femara & I wonder if this is why I just melted down after I got home from work. I know I didn't…

chemo and rosacea
I had my first chemo treatment about a week and a half ago- TAC - and did really well. My question is I have Rosacea and I am going through a really bad breakout. It may just be from stress. Does anybody have this problem and if you have any tips it would be helpful. Also, did your chemo make it worse. Thanks.

Decisions
Has anyone ever made a decision about their treatment and questioned whether it is the right one or not? I think that is why I have avoided talking to many people because I know everyone would give me their opinion as to what they would do and I would be even more confused. I have had 3 biopsies on the right breast so when…

Who Packs Your Parachute?
INSIGHTS INTO EXCELLENCE Packing Parachutes - Excerpt from Chapter 16 By Charlie Plumb Recently, I was sitting in a restaurant in Kansas City. A man about two tables away kept looking at me. I didn't recognize him. A few minutes into our meal he stood up and walked over to my table, looked down at me, pointed his finger in…

I know I am coming into season but
I look like a Tomato. When I get the flashes which I am getting more and more while on Tamoxifen. My face turns bright red. If I am out, people ask me if I am ok. It's embarrassing. Is there anything I can do about it.

Radiology Oncologist - Weekly checkups
I have completed 7 radiation treatments and had my first "checkup" with my radiology oncologist. Not really sure what I was expecting but he just had me open my shirt and he said, "Yep, looks good" and that was it. I asked if I should have swelling under my arm and he said "No". He asked how my arm felt and I said "Fine".…

Not New to Cancer, but this time it's me - when do you quit thinking about it?
I lost my father to stomach cancer. My mother had ovarian cancer and survived. She was 72 when diagnosed and is now 84. She is a walking miracle and I am convinced it was her faith in God that got her through. Well, I helped take care of both of them but now it's me. I was diagnosed with DCIS breast cancer on March 11th,…

Femara side effects
After a bone density test I am to start on Femara. After reading about side effects, I'm scared to take it. Some of them are pretty awful. Would like to hear from those on the drug as to what side effects they have experienced. Thanks. Judy

Too stupid to make up
Ran into a neighbor this weekend. Conversation went something like this... Neighbor.. Did you hear about Tom? Me... No, what about Tom? Neighbor .. his cancer is back. Only been six months since he was declared cancer free and now it's back. (didn't mention that it was lung cancer and he still lights one cigarette off the…

Saw my PA today
This morning I saw my PA and it was good news. No longer anemic, liver and kidney function are great, white cells are back to normal range, no diabetes, - everything good to great. The only 'thing' she's a bit concerned about is that my back (between shoulders) has been bothering me a bit for the last couple of weeks in an…

just wanted to share a place where I often order clothes online. I guess I have been doing a little more of that lately, don't really want to go to stores. The place is called Soft Surroundings, they have an outlet store as well. I like their clothing, they are comfortable with lovely details and have quite a ranges of…

Tamoxifen OR Arimidex???
Hi again, it's me. I had another question for the "already been there's..." I finished Rads 2 days ago. My next appt with my Oncologist is June 9th. The last time we talked, when she tried to explain to me the pros/cons of each pill, I was still in rads. She thought she was "pretty sure" she was going to start me on…

I found a great post bilasteral reconstruction bra
I don't know about you guys but, I had a terrible time finding a nice looking and feeling bra since my implants were placed. The sports bra and the type bras my grandmother used to wear were not doing it for me. And because I'm a C cup, most of the bras are huge and made to support big boobs. Not remotely attractive or…

Genetic Testing - Myriad - Only Patent - ISSUES if true - $3,200
Please review the 60 minutes segment that ran last night. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/04/01/60minutes/main6354069_page4.shtml?tag=contentMain;contentBody It appears that insurance companies, including mine, will pay a portion of the genetic test but the Myriad does not except insurance payments. In addition, due to…

Pathology back but no dancing for me
Well one tube out and one left and it does feel good for the little victories. My pathology was some good some not so. My tumor(invasive duct) was under the nipple and 9mm but I had a field of calcium behind it that did not look good so I opted for the mastectomy. Lucky for me cause behind that field was another invasive…

Does anyone ever say no. . .
to surgery? I have gone through six rounds of chemo, now am being told left breast has to be removed. What if I don't want to have it removed? I had a couple of biopsies, one before treatment started, one during. It took over two months to heal from the infection I got from the second biopsy. I am scared that I will not be…

Has anyone had their hip radiated?
Had a catscan done this morning and was lined up and tattoed "below the navel". Has anyone had rads on hip and how bad is the burn? I have a belly (muffin top) and worried it will be quite uncomfortable in the crease by right hip. I also did day 3 of rads today. I'm lucky they get me in as soon as I get there, it hasn't…
