Had first Mammo ...maybe not good news
Had my first Mammo last Wed, since all this began two years ago. They found a suspicious area, a shadow. They asked a lot of questions about what type of cancer I had. I sat in my car and cried. Now they want to do a needle biospy. They, the radiologist, said they would send an order to my oncologist. I probably should…

My 68 yr old mother was an extremely healthy woman who was diagnosed with triple negative stage one breast cancer back in March. Her lumpectomy surgery in May was successful however given the rarity of her cancer, she elected for chemotherapy. Now, after one round of chemo treatment, she is fighting for her life. Seven…

Reconstruction Nightmare
Okay, here is my story, my current dilemma. I started my breast reconstruction on July 7th. I had my expander surgery. The surgery is considered outpatient and was done in my doc’s surgical suite, in his office, his office is in a med building three steps from the admissions desk at one of our local hospitals. I went in…

DCIS/Double Mastectomy/Chest Wall Ultra Sound
In 2001, I was diagnosed with DCIS in one breast and decided to have a double mastectomy as a precaution to getting breast cancer again. I had expanders and then implants. Now ten years later, I found a small node under my left arm which was removed two days later and found to be malignant. They also removed 15 other lymph…

It's finally setting in....
Friday is my first chemo treatment. Even though I've been through this before, I am now starting to realize how different life will be for the next several months. Kind of had put it in the back of my mind with family visiting and trying to get in all the FUN I can before chemo starts. I'm always upbeat and positive, and…

lumpectomy done, waiting . . . . .
I had my lumpectomy yesterday and wanted to say I feel surprisingly better than I thought I would, even though everyone told me it wouldn't be that bad - I guess next time I will listen. They removed the lump, the sentinal node and another lymph node, the doc told my husband that the nodes did not appear to have cancer in…

Oh Shucks! I spoke too soon
I've been on Arimidex for a year now. Up until last week--I had a few aches and pains and a few hot flashes but nothing I couldn't handle and it really didn't affect my life a whole lot. I thought, okay, I sure can handle this. For the last few days I've had joint pain--not just one or two joints--more like EVERY joint.…

OT - Latisse
Anyone ever try it? I want better eyelashes, but not at the cost of eye problems. And I like the color of my eyes, green, and wondered if the side effect is common. Also, I'd want the generic @ half the cost. Thanks, Sue

Fosamax anyone?
My oncologist recently started me on Fosamax although he did say I could wait until I got home from vacation. So I took the first dose on Thursday morning - that routine is a pain by the way. I read all the instructions on how to take the stuff but not the possible side effects 'cause I figured if my brain didn't know my…

It's 3:30 in the morning and I have to be at the hospital at 8:00 am to start the process for my mastectomy. Nuclear medicine first, then on to the OR. I have no clue what my stage is, what comes after this. I'm feeling very alone. Something a friend sent me recently says "Grieve, cry, and move on. The only person who is…

Wish I had better news :(
Well, my PET scan revealed why I'm in so much pain and my tumor markers are on the rise :( The Xeloda that I've been taking for 6 months has not been working. My cancer has spread from two areas of my spine into three more areas, back into my lymph nodes, including my supraclavicular node, and into my hip :( The news was…

Update: Graduated to Annual Mammograms!!!
I met up with my oncologist on Tues., July 19, and was told I will have annual mammograms, no MRI's, and will be seen semi-annually! I was so relieved. He did highly recommend I continue exercising. That is a given as I am committed to keeping my Temple( Mind, Body, Soul) Strong! Take care, God bless to all.
