Breast Cancer and Heart Disease
My goal is never to scare anyone, but I think this article is important because there are many proactive things that we can do to prevent heart disease. It may be worth it for many of us to take this article to our oncologists and begin to ask for cardiology referrals. Unfortunately, there are not many cardiologists aware…

Nipple reconstruction Q's?
What type of nipple reconstruction have you had/heard about or discussed with your PS? Are you ok with the results? Did you have complications? How long did it take and was it an outpatient procedure? What style did your PS go with and were fillers used? Who did your tattoo? Was it a lot darker at first? Just sort of…

How to buy a decent wig? Online or in a shop? Anyone know shops in the San Francisco Bay?
Hi everyone! I did not think I wanted a wig. But now when I am about to go back to work, I changed my mind. I went to wig shops close to where I live. There, the wigs did not look too great. The most expensive wig they had was around $100. My insurance pays up to $350. Im willing to add my own money to that. But Im not…

My meeting with my oncologist...
He could not have been sweeter. He said that he thought getting a second opinion at MD Anderson was a "very reasonable thing to do" and he said that he would be happy to work with them. He said, We work well with others." And he reassured me not to worry about it at all. He also ordered another PET and full body bone scan…

Dx with invasive lobular breast cancer 6 weeks ago. Bilat. mastectomy scheduled for 7/27/11. The tumor per MRI done 2 days ago shows dramatic increase in size. Had first Mammo ...maybe not good news
Had my first Mammo last Wed, since all this began two years ago. They found a suspicious area, a shadow. They asked a lot of questions about what type of cancer I had. I sat in my car and cried. Now they want to do a needle biospy. They, the radiologist, said they would send an order to my oncologist. I probably should…

DCIS/Double Mastectomy/Chest Wall Ultra Sound
In 2001, I was diagnosed with DCIS in one breast and decided to have a double mastectomy as a precaution to getting breast cancer again. I had expanders and then implants. Now ten years later, I found a small node under my left arm which was removed two days later and found to be malignant. They also removed 15 other lymph…

It's finally setting in....
Friday is my first chemo treatment. Even though I've been through this before, I am now starting to realize how different life will be for the next several months. Kind of had put it in the back of my mind with family visiting and trying to get in all the FUN I can before chemo starts. I'm always upbeat and positive, and…

lumpectomy done, waiting . . . . .
I had my lumpectomy yesterday and wanted to say I feel surprisingly better than I thought I would, even though everyone told me it wouldn't be that bad - I guess next time I will listen. They removed the lump, the sentinal node and another lymph node, the doc told my husband that the nodes did not appear to have cancer in…

Oh Shucks! I spoke too soon
I've been on Arimidex for a year now. Up until last week--I had a few aches and pains and a few hot flashes but nothing I couldn't handle and it really didn't affect my life a whole lot. I thought, okay, I sure can handle this. For the last few days I've had joint pain--not just one or two joints--more like EVERY joint.…

OT - Latisse
Anyone ever try it? I want better eyelashes, but not at the cost of eye problems. And I like the color of my eyes, green, and wondered if the side effect is common. Also, I'd want the generic @ half the cost. Thanks, Sue

Fosamax anyone?
My oncologist recently started me on Fosamax although he did say I could wait until I got home from vacation. So I took the first dose on Thursday morning - that routine is a pain by the way. I read all the instructions on how to take the stuff but not the possible side effects 'cause I figured if my brain didn't know my…

Almost Half Way Through...Update
Hi there. First, and update on how RAD is going. I had my 12th out of 28 scheduled RAD treatments yesterday. I'm fatigued and my skin is red, itchy, sore and uncomfortable. The skin and muscles feel tight and my lymphedema had definitely gotten worse. I'm doing everything I can to alleviate all the side effects. Next, my…
