Mama did not warn me about days like these.....
Sure helps to red all your posts though, and kind of what I can expect going forward.

Sorry
Sorry you've had such a rough time. Hopefully now that the port is fixed it'll be clear sailing. Make sure your onc knows about the vomiting etc. They can probably adjust your pre-chemo meds. I made a mistake asking them to lower the steriods after the first round cause I felt good and was eating like a horse. When they did what I asked, I felt like the typical chemo victim. From then on I let them give me as many meds as they thought right.
As far as the metallic taste, try using plastic utensils when you eat. Lots of ladies here have said that worked.0 -

with the metallic taste that is.
I got lots of anti-nausea drugs (2 IV and 1 oral) plus steroids before each treatment. I also ate a lot of pasta for a couple days because that tasted the most "normal" to me. And lots of bananas 'cause that's part of teh BRAT diet - bananas, rice, applesauce, tea & toast.
We hear you sister and we're with you. You can do this!0 -
:-(
I am sorry you are having a difficult time. But you are doing it, and soon it will be over for you too. Just keep counting the days ... they get you closer to the end.
For taste, a few things helped me (by adding it to the foods): lemon, organic maple syrup, sea salt and olive oil. I hope these help you.0 -

Forgot about the BRAT diet.....THANKS! Being a Giovanni, pasta is never far from my fingertips, but right now it doesn't sound good .

I'm so sorry that this is so hard. Just focus on the finish line when you will finally be done with chemo and can get on with your life.

Home made apple sauce with cinnamon was the easiest thing for me to eat. The cinnamon helps with nausea too.
Do you want another cat? I have a 12 year old tabby that is tormenting my 14 year old labrador.... He recently started messing with the 6 year old lab. Hilarious to watch an eight pound cat chase a 100 pound dog away from his food! (mostly kidding about getting rid of him he is a totally cool cat)0 -

You are having a rough time, and, I am very sorry for that. Praying your chemo will go more smoothly for you and you will have better days ahead.

You're having "the taste" already? Oh, I'm so sorry about that. I didn't have it until the last cycle and it was awful. What's with the nausea and vomiting? Call your oncology office and get something for tht. I don't think anything can be done about "the taste", tho. I hope this passes soon so you can have some good days for a stretch.

WHAT?
Stay in the womb and miss out on all THIS?.. naaaaah
So sorry you are having such a rough go of it all. But hopefully
it will get better for you. Talk to your oncologist, they need to
be more preventive. I am talking anti nausea medication. I used
to start taking mine the day before chemo and for a few days after.
I only had to go to the hospital once for fluids - like you I had the
runs and vomited all night long but that was like chemo #5.
Drink ginger tea for nausea and tons of coconut juice to hydrate.
Read up about it, I swear that juice did wonders for me.
Feel better soon.

I had 2 scripts for nausea and also a 5 day iv. My onc believed there was no need for throwing up. Said to take the meds at the first sign of feeling bad, not to let it get ahead of me. I had Epirubicin so no bad taste.
Hope you feel better soon,
Jennifer
did you get a neulasta injection, 24 hours after your chemo ??? Exhausted feeling like you have the 'flu'?, or hit by a 24 axle truck?
ahh, that metallic taste -- it helps if you use plastic stem ware .. Eat what ever you can stomach .. my case .. plain baked potatoes -- with butter, at times without anything. Sometimes -- I just sprinkled some cheese. Watermelon kept me going for 1 week. Banana's became a staple in my daily diet. We are all different -- our bodies tolerate chemo infusions differently. Personally, I suffered thru 6 months of chemo -- ended up with chronic fatigue, Staph infection -- and a women I did not recognize or want to know.
Strength, Courage and Hope.
