Thanks for letting me vent, Pink Ladies!
Well thanks to you and my family and friends, I am feeling so much better! Today, I called my boss and told him that I was not coming back to work until the fall. My teaching job is safe, I will still be paid thanks to our union's sick bank, and I have a great substitute teacher. It truly is a load off of my mind.…

Pink lady hit squad?
Nothing you all can really help me with. I just need to share with those who can understand. I've returned to work part time only because I'm still doing radiation. The girl who's been covering my job while I've been off has been making little comments here and there. Comments about knowing others with bc who thought they…

Longterm Follow up for DCIS with BMX and No Reconstruction?
I had a BMX w/ no reconstruction for DCIS on 1.11.11. I had asked my surgeon last summer what kind of follow up I will have. She said my family dr. should show me how to do self chest exams now (I realize now SHE should have shown me. Don't know why she didn't and why I didn't think of it then). So, that's it. I realize…

Starting new treatment today-call in for the pink bus
I am starting the Faslodex injections today as well as the Zometa infusions for my new bone mets. From a couple of people, I've heard that the Faslodex injections are quite painful--it is the consistency of syrup and they have to put it in real slow. Ouch--I hate pain. I'm not crazy about starting the Zometa (because of…

Infection at the port site
Has anyone gotten redness/infection at the port site? I am here for my chemo session and brought the redness to their attention. They put me on Cipro to treat it, but I am still unclear as to what causes it. They just said it happens. Can anyone give me more insight than that?

Joke .. for Monday ...
I did get a chuckle from this ... An elderly woman called 911 on her cell phone to report that her car had been broken in to. She is hysterical as she explains her situation to the dispatcher: "They've stolen the stereo, the steering wheel, the brake pedal and even the accelerator!" she cried. The dispatcher said, "Stay…

Counterfeit cancer drugs...
Huge article in today's Wall Street Journal on counterfeit cancer drugs...Avastin, Herceptin, Rituxan, Faslodex....with Faslodex being the one "most likely" to have been administered to patients.... It's not bad enough that we have cancer but now we are made to wonder if we are getting " the real thing!" I would encourage…

afraid to finish my reconstruction
I am new here, and am so wanting to talk to others who have had bad feelings about their reconstruction surgery. I had the Latissimus flap (SP) and have a huge scar running down the right side of my body, in addition to the scars across and around the breast.
