Roll Call - PPC
Hi All On the Ovarian site they are doing a roll call of people with a description of how they were diagnosed, when, treatment, outcomes, etc etc. I suggest we do the same as often when I look up a postee's details there are none. This is such a rare cancer the more we can share information the more we can help each other.…

The number I was waiting for.
Just now getting my next-to-last taxol & carboplatin. I was just told that my CA125 marker is 79. Finally broke 100! And a far cry from when I was diagnosed in July with a CA125 score of 2,738. The bonus was my dear sweet PA said I look wonderful. I know she meant it sincerely--if I say so myself, I am looking well these…

Good news!
(Let me try this again!) I may be taking my last carbo treatment for this round. It is for a first recurrance that did not respond to Doxil. I have been on chemo since March! I get it in the hospital overnite as I am allergic to it and they desensitize me. The Dr. may want to give me a couple more treatments to give it a…

Confused - CA125 increased after debulking
First, I'd like to say how much help this group has already been and thank you! My Mom, a young 71, was diagnosed with peritoneal cancer last month (Nov. 2012). Her CA125 was 5,338 November 24, 2012. The doctor first suspected ovarian cancer, but after surgery to remove as much of the cancer has possible, he said the…

My Doxil (Caelyx) Results
Hi All I saw my Oncologist yesterday having completed 3 rounds of this chemo. I was to have had Round 4 today but as my CA125 jumped up from 322 to 425 over this last month it is now off for me. I am quietly relieved as side effects were so awful! Burning hands and feet which blistered terribly and required me to visit my…

Hi Everybody, three months ago, my mom, 74 yrs old, went into the ER with bloating and was diagnsed with PPC. I feel like my life suddenly stopped as the doctor was giving us the news and now I live in some kind of cruel existance, parallel to everyone else. To date, we completed 3 rounds of chemo after which she got…

Protocel
My mom has stage 3C ppc. She had surgery a few months ago..started chemo..had to stop and is now starting again this week. I had initially heard of Protocel when I started researching alternative treatments. A new info source?
This week I happened across what I thought was a valuable reference: NCCN Guidelines for Patients/Ovarian Cancer. The National Comprehensive Cancer Network is comprised of leading cancer research & clinical hospitals in the US: MD Anderson in Houston, Fred Hutchinson in Seattle, City of Hope in LA, Dana-Farber in Boston,…

My Doxil (Caelyx) result and extra good news
I have just had my 3rd infusion of Doxil. The side effects during the second round weren't pleasant with bad burning of hands and feet and nasty blisters requiring constant dressing by the nurses - and making life difficult - as well as rashes on my body. However the CA125 came in with a drop of 60 points over the month…

3 year anniversary
3 years since the doctors told me I had an incurable cancer. 3 years since I was told the average survival rate for my cancer was 8 - 18 months. Ha ha ha I tricked you all - I am still here and feeling really well and free from chemo (at the moment) I am looking forward to another 3 years living and managing my illness. I…

Hope every other cancer patient has a day as good as mine!
Just had to share my latest news because I'm still elated, hours later, & I think my news shows there's reason for hope. Today my doc told me that the benchmark CA 125 cancer marker is down from 803 a month ago to . . . (drum roll) 173!!! Still a long way from the normal healthy range of 1-30, but what a big improvement…

Doxil - my first round
Well I have now completed my first round of Doxil (Caelyx in Australia) and had my second treatment today. Having had 3 x CA125 tests increase 21 to 209 to 360 to 459 (the last being 6 days after my first infusion!!!) - 5th to 24th September - I was delighted that my result this week, at the end of the 4 weeks from…

Is anybody in remission taking Tamoxifen as a maintenance drug?
I was diagnosed in December 2011 with stage 4 primary peritoneal. I had a 5 1/2 hour surgery to remove the disease. They were able to get all but 10%. I have had 9 chemo treatments Carboplatins and Taxol. As of August 2012 I am in remission. My CA 125 test at my 8th chemo was 55 which I started out with them being 1500. I…

Stage IV cancer. Unknown primary with extensive peritoneal implanting. Should we get TPN?
Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum. My friend was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in July. They think the primary may be gastric according the the cell block they got from taking cells from her ascites fluid. Her ascites subsided, but she now has a very palpable stomach mass and a malignant bowel obstruction. They think…

The chemo regime is so tough
Just had my latest CA125 results which are quite pleasing. They have dropped again from 292 - 225. Not alot but it is going in the right direction. I have now had 3 Carboplatin and 3 Cisplatin so I am getting a 4 week chemo break. My body is exhausted. I wake up most mornings with nausea and if I cough then I retch and…

Six rounds of chemo after debulking found her in remission. Two and a half months ago her CA-125 went from 9.6 to over 1600 in less than 3 months and CAT scan…
