My Doxil (Caelyx) result and extra good news

I have just had my 3rd infusion of Doxil. The side effects during the second round weren't pleasant with bad burning of hands and feet and nasty blisters requiring constant dressing by the nurses - and making life difficult - as well as rashes on my body. However the CA125 came in with a drop of 60 points over the month now down to 322 - very acceptable! My oncologist has reduced my 3rd infusion by 20 percent hoping it will reduce the side effects but stlll work to reduce the cancer. Here's hoping!!!

Some wonderful news is that our daughter gave birth to her first child (and our first grandchild) last night - a dear little boy called Koa. Such a darling and means so much to all of us. So much to look forward to and to live for for me! I have been very emotional and can't help worrying I might not see him grow up but whatever happens I will enjoy every moment I have with him. I am very grateful we live close by so will be able to see lots of him!

    Dear JulieL
I am so pleased to read about your new grandson. I too have my first grandchild. He is now 14 months old and he has filled my life with such happiness and joy. They only live a mile away too. When he was born I was so afraid I wouldn't live long enough to see him grow up, for him to get to know me and who I am, but as I said, he is now 14 months old and we have such a lovely relationship. He is my boy's boy.

I have tears sometimes when I think I will miss out on seeing him grow, but when that happens I go around to see him and it doesn't matter. What matters is here and now. Whenever he looks at me I feel like I am his whole world and that makes up for everything.

My grandson is called Elliott. Enjoy Koa and see him as often as you can.

    Thank you both
It is an amazing time and yes, I think, a whole new world! Now another reason to keep on keeping on with whatever treatment is available to keep going until the wonderful researchers come up with a better solution!

    Best wishes!
Congratulations! How nice to hear about your new grandson. Best wishes to mom, baby & all the happy family. Congratulations also on your lowered CA125 number. Hope the reduction in drug dose makes a difference for you. The same approach worked for me, with entirely different drugs. When I had Taxol toxicity, reducing the schedule to 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off from 3 weeks on, 1 week off made the difference, & my CA125 count continued to drop. Enjoy the new baby!
