Please Pray for my Father
My dad is having scans tomorrow. These scans will tell us if the chemo is still working or if the cancer has continued to spread. The cancer is in his liver and spine so far. My father's last chemo was last Tuesday. He will need to take a break from it as to not do more harm than good. And depending on the scan results, it…

My Dad Was Admitted to Hospice Yesterday
I have wanted to update, but these last 2 weeks have been a blur. Everytime I sit down at the computer I either cry or just stare at the screen, unable to put into words the experiences of the journey. Dad was admitted to the hospital last night, where he will stay for his hospice care. He was no longer able to be cared for…

All, My dad wanted to start a CaringBridge website to keep track of his battle. Thank you for all the support and prayers it really is…

Dad's about ready to come home
just an update. Dad's MIE went very well. A couple days leter he had to go back to the OR to repair the stitches that he broke, but he's doing well. He past his swallow/leak test yesterday, 6 days after surgery. He's been eating everything he can get his hands on, that qualifies as a "liquid diet" :) When he drank the…

Esophageal Cancer survivor with questions
Hi all, I just completed my last regiment of chemo, had surgery for esophagus cancer (considered stage 3 with 35 lymph nodes taken, 9 infected) in July, and followed by 9 weeks of chemo. Finally finished with no place to go but up (I mean “up” as compared to let’s not think about any worse) my surgery was conducted at…

Well they have started my brother on his chemo and radiation last week. He already has terrible mouth sores and is eating very little. Reposted this because Don's cancer has spread and they are still doing surgery
I reposted this because I was afraid it was going to get lost since it was so far down the thread. Reba posted - They postponed Don's surgery until Friday. Biopsy on kidney came back and he has cancer there too. They said it is slow growing so will deal with it after the Esophagus surgery. Please keep us in your thoughts…

GOOD PETSCAN RESULTS
Jim and I have spent the last week in Portland, Oregon seeing cardiologists and surgeons regarding his possible surgery. The lymph nodes (4) have all shrunk and the tumor has shrunk considerably. There is no metastasis to any organs or bones. The surgeon says it is a great petscan and he can remove all cancer with the…

Thoughful words from Elizabeth Edwards
I saw this online this evening and the sentiment in the posting really touched me. This is a recent posting from Elizabeth Edwards who has been fighting breast cancer since 2004 --- the doctors say there isn't anything else they can do for her. “The days of our lives, for all of us, are numbered,” she wrote. “We know that.…

Sad Day - One Year without Roy
In today's newspaper: AYERS Harry Roy March 27, 1953 – December 5, 2009 One year ago today, God took you gently by the hand. He walked with you so peacefully into His Eternal Land. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t leave alone. Part of us went with you, that day God called you home. If we could have one…
