Peach fuzz
Just wondering if you ladies know if it is common for your hair to start growing back if you had the sandwich treatment. My break was only 4 1/2 weeks and a week after my 4th treatment I got peach fuzz all over my head even when my eyebrows and eyelashes continued to fall out. If it is normal will it also fall out again?…

Low white blood cell count
Checkup wasn't bad. My CA-125 went from 17 to 12 post-surgery (six weeks out), so that's good. It's the lowest it's been throughout this whole cancer journey. May it hit the single digits by the time of my sixth (and HOPEFULLY last) chemo session. I'm itchin' to ring that bell! That in combination with a boring,…

Chris (aka Editgirl) Celebration of Life
I was able to attend Editgirl’s (aka Chris) Celebration of Life on Thursday, February 22nd. It was held at a beautiful winery called Viaggio, in Acampo, California. There were many in attendance, celebrating with complimentary wine, which Chris loved, and a beautiful lunch served outdoors. As we had come to know, through…

Drug Reaction
My scalp started itching in January. I went and saw my PA. I thought he'd tell me the itching was a side effect of the Metformin I've been taking to try to prevent a recurrence of my UPSC, but instead, he told me I had psoriasis. He recommended Neutrogena T-gel shampoo, which I bought. When I first used it, I thought it…

Biopsy date
I have a date for my D&C/biopsy/hysteroscopy. It is April 10. I was given a choice of 5 dates ranging from April 10 to June 28. While my first instinct was to take the latest one, I decided to take the earliest and get it over with. I am still scared as all get-out but hoping I will go through with it.

Commercials
Is it just me...I just hate those commercials that portray those women with metastatic breast or lung cancer living a normal life. Running, working full time jobs, looking normal. My bet that’s not the reality for most. I worked for a pharma company and are very familiar with those dopey, naive marketing people and their…

Question for those who have undergone radiation
Has anyone tried those donut pillows for vaginal/labia pain? I was just wondering if they work for that (I know they are made for hemmorhoid pain), if the hole is big enough to cover that part of the anatomy. I'm trying to deal with an irriated labia and I have cream that helps but it's not going to go away as long as I…

Brand of probiotic?
It turns out I have to have external radiation. I have seen many posts about taking probiotics during treatment, but not much on which brands were used. Could you all share what brand of probiotics you are using? Thanks!

POLE ultra-mutated endometrial cancer and immunotherapy
In addition to ultra-mutated endometrial cancer due to microsatellite instability (MSI), it seems if the tumor has the POLE exonuclease domain mutations then they would make good candidates for immunotherapy. It seems 10% of the endometrial cancer (both types) gets this mutation. If you have this mutation in your genomic…

There is hope beyond cancer
Just got back from my yearly exam with the oncologist. I am not officially 8 years cancer free from USPC. They said I am one of the longest survivors there office has ever had with this kind of aggressive cancer. I have done nothing special besides doing the chemo & interanal radiation that they advised me to have. Just…

Anybody heard from Amatullah?
Has anybody heard from Amatullah? I sent her a PM back at the beginning of the month but haven't heard back. It looks like she hasn't been online since February 28th, I hope she's okay...

Let’s talk about Cannibas
So, I got my medical marijuana card and visited the dispensar. I’ve tried a few products (tictured, joints, gummies) and they have had absolutely no effect on me. It’s amazing how these things operate without giving a you any direction. I’ve resorted to taking advice from a few pot heads I know. I didn’t do this when I was…

UTI’s
Thank you de Maus for the tip about using a spray bottle for these infections. I have just finished my 4th round and since I started using one I have had no signs. I used to get them regularly and it has been at least three weeks. I think you are on to something.

The "new normal"
Do you ever get accustomed to this "new normal?" It's like I'm on the Wheel of Fortune every day. Each morning I get up and spin the wheel. Will it be a good day, a not-so-good day or a horrible day? Tuesday was a not-so-good day but I was at least functional. Yesterday was a horrible day - so dizzy I could hardly walk,…

If you were me
Hi. I really need to rely on all of you and the immense knowledge you possess. My body just can’t handle cancer treatments. Hysterectomy last May, diagnosed stage 3c, grade 1. Began chemo early July. Total of 6 weeks delays due to significant neutropenia and low platelet counts which resulted in 3 hospitalizations. Dosage…

POLE ultra-mutated endometrial cancer and immunotherapy
This is the third time I am trying to post this message. It seems if I add a hyperlink the post is deleted. In addition to tumours that have Micro Satellite Instability, it seems tumours that have the POLE exonuclease domain mutations are also good candidates for immunotherapy. If the genomic profiling of your tumour…

POLE ultra-mutated endometrial cancer and immunotherapy
Hello, In addition to tumours that have Micro Satellite Instability, it seems tumours that have the POLE exonuclease domain mutations are also good candidates for immunotherapy. If the genomic profiling of your tumour indicated the POLE mutation and you are experiencing a recurrence please check with your doctor to see if…

POLE ultra-mutated endometrial cancer and immunotherapy
It is my understanding that if a cancer has high mutation burden (like lung, melanoma) they are better candidates for immunotherapies. As far as I know ovarian cancer is a low mutation burden type of cancer and hence typically may have limitations in targeted therapies. Here is an article discussing that. Up until now I…

Final chemo 3 weeks ago - still feel like a wet noodle...
Hi all, it has been a while since I posted - something to celebrate is that I finished my 6th and final taxol/carbo treatment! However, it has been a rough road since: I landed in the hospital with a fever and borderline neutropenia last week, and the weakness is incredible and does not go away. It has been 3 weeks, and I…

How has Cancer changed you?
I have to ask. Many of you warriors know that I was and still am traumatized to think I had uterine cancer. What the hell? I never smoked, don't drink, didn't do anything except put a little transdermal patch on my body for hot flashes which are sooo bad. And according to my gyno oncologist, my tumor was estrogen driven.…

NED from Stage IV metastatic endometrial cancer
Hi, This is my first posting to this site. After reading many of the entries on this site, I felt I had to join. August 2014 - experienced post-menopausal bleeding - had ultrasound- endometrial lining was .8-.9cm-double what it should be(normal is .4cm) Sept 2014 - endometrial biopsy was not totally conclusive but…

Stage IV Endometrial Cancer Treatment
I was diagnosed in 2017 (age 58) with Stage IV endometrial ovarian cancer metastasized to liver and lungs. I was told I was not a candidate for surgery or radiation so was put on 6 rounds of Paclitaxel and Carboplatin. Currently I am nearing the end of 6 rounds of Avastin and Doxil. Long story short, nothing is really…

Cheese update
So it’s St. Patrrick’s Day. Thirty-three years ago, I met my husband while he was trying to convince me he was Irish at the Green Dolphin in Tucson. Two years ago I was undergoing surgery for Stage 3 uterine cancer. Each time my life changed in ways that they would never be the same. The first year of my illness there was…

Uterine Stage IV B Reoccurence Vagina
Hello, This is my first post here. I'm 69 years old. In May, I had a complete hysterectomy which was preceded by six rounds of chemo,(Carboplatin & Taxol) which I tolerated well and was successful in shrinking the tumors. Surgery went well, and I was placed in surveillance, no additional treatment. This past week in early…

Recurrence - be your own advocate
First of all, I want to thank all of you for all of the wishes that were posted about my recent recurrence. Just want to let you all know that I am ok and will be taking steps to see what will be next. I don't know if this would be considered my 2nd or 3rd recurrence. Diagnosed Sept 2005 after a routine hysterectomy (Stage…

I got a Rx for Metformin!!
After seeking a prescription from any of the doctors whom I see, my PCP agreed yesterday to analyze the data and consider it. I just got a call saying after reviewing my records and articles relative to Metformin and endometrial cancer, she said it was reasonable to conclude I showed sufficient evidence of "metabolic…
