Dry Scalp
Hi Ladies, I have just little peach fuzz left in my head. My scalp is very dry. My oncologist recommended using using Dove shampoo and conditioner for washing. Wondering if that's what I should be using and if I should be massaging with lotion. I'm a also told I should be massaging my scalp in general to keep my scalp…

Zantac / Ranitidine contamination uterine cancer link
I just saw an article on MSNBC about the same contamination found in some high blood pressure medicine has now been found in common heartburn medication. It specifically mentions uterine and colon cancer associated with the contaminant. Of course made in China. I am sure there is more details to come.

Chemo and the sun
Hi all, I was just wondering if when having chemo therapy do u need to avoid the sun? My appt to find out when I will begin therapy is next week and I'm sure they'll let me know but thought I'd ask here too. It's hot where I live and I'm anxious for when I feel well enough what my limitations are going to be. Thank you

Clinical Trial Decisions- No trial necessary - FDA approves treatment
Some of you all have done clinical trials and some of you have chosen against them. I now find myself in the position of having to make this decision. Brief synopsis: Diagnosed in 2012, Stage Ia, Grade 1 endometrial cancer. Surgery followed by brachytherapy. CT scan for hip pain two years later, negative. After six years,…

I am furious with my new primary care doctor!
I hate having to find a new primary care physician! Especially with us moving from Wisconsin to Florida where you don't have a lot of friends and family to give you recommendations. I started seeing a doctor near our home here when we switched insurance last April. The first time my husband and I went together to meet him…

Helpful program
Is anyone listening to NPR On Point right now? The discussion is "Life After Surviving Cancer" and covers " On the other side of cancer treatment, survivors can face new challenges and fears. We look at ways to help." This subject often comes up here andI found the program most interesting. If you missed it, the site said…

Chemo Odor 1+ years after last chemo?
Hello, it has been a while since I have posted, but I am experiencing something weird, and I am hoping someone can help. I was diagnosed with stage III endometrial adenocarcinoma and had a hysterectomy, 6 rounds of Taxol/carboplatin, and 25 days of radiation. I have been in remission since May 2018. While undergoing chemo…

cisplatin and radiation
Hi Ladies, next week I will begin my 25 radiation treatments with concurrent weeks 1 and 4 Cisplatin. I'm feeling very anxious about the cisplatin side effects. Does the anitnausea med help minimize the nausea and vomiting. I did not feel nauseous at all with the Carbo/Taxol treatments I received. This scares me to think I…

The Unusual Tale of the Roaming Gallstones
I love this story from NY Times Diagnosis series. They also have a Netflix series based on a few selected cases from their articles. If you have not seen it yet I would highly recommend it. A doctor (apparently a consultant to one of my favorite shows, House) is trying to solve medical mysteries with help from strangers.…

Bile duct obstruction
I came home early from my dream vacation to Prague because of symptoms I have been experiencing for three weeks which have progressively gotten worse. I was admitted to the hospital last night and found out I have a bile duct obstruction. Then I logged on to see what has been going on the past two weeks and was surprised…

Interesting article about dying at home
I‘ve already decided that when the time comes I’m going to an in-patient hospice. I understand Medicare fights you on it. Perhaps my long termed care insurance would cover. I know my husband could not deal with the stress of caring for me at home nor would I want to burden him with not only the with the day to day care but…

Stool caliber after radiation
It's four months since I finished pelvic IMRT radiation, and I'm finally mostly over the diarrhea. I'm not back to how I was before, but at least I can go out, do things, without worrying so much about proximity to a bathroom. But I'm a bit worried. The diameter of the formed stool is so small! The stools are not as wide…

Statistics of One
Often on this forum we advise each other not to pay attention to studies, survival rates, because they describe the average experience and may not reflect our chances. I enjoyed reading this article and wanted to share with you. Below is my favorite excerpt. New Yorker article: What statistics can and cannot tell us about…

Exciting story on local woman in my state
Hang on ladies, because I truly believe they are making headway for new, more effective treatments for cancer. This story was in my local paper today. For Taylor Cochrane, treatment using stem cells was floated by her doctor during her battle with a rare form of ovarian cancer, called small cell ovarian cancer. At the…

Cheese Update
So new renal stent has also become intolerable. Nothing cuts the pain including medical marijuana. I’ve resorted to ice packs to the crotch. I’m seeing a urologist at Johns Hopkins on Thursday for a second opinion and I see my regular urologist on June 18. There’s got to be another solution.

Is This True?
I probably should not be reading "Dr. Google," but is it true that uterine cancer survivors have a higher percentage of cardiovascular problems a few years after their diagnosis? As if we don't have enough to worry about. Just wondering if any thoughts on the subject. I recently went to the primary care doctor and he said…

LizaL: Response to your request for information on uterine carcinosarcoma (MMMT) specialists
LizaL I created this separate topic since your original request was buried in the old, long thread on MMMT. Those old threads can be hard to navigate when looking for new posts or seeking others' advice. You asked: Hi I was recently diagnosed with MMMT in vaginal and cervix. I received two chemo treatments but the cancer…

Femara
Hello, I was diagnosed with uterine cancer five years ago with lung mets. Afer a histerectomy and two surgeries to remove nodules on lungs, I was put on Fermara. Menopause and hot flushes
Hola! I hope everyone is coping well with everything we all have in our plates. I was wondering if anyone have used “Black Cohosh” for hot flushes. I have been having a very hard time lately. Lynch Syndrome anyone?
This is my two week surgery-versary. I had a complete laporascopic hysterectomy. I'm doing okay now, but had TERRIBLE, EXCRUTIATING pain the first few days. And the anesthesia made me so dizzy that I couldn't stand or walk for about 18 hours so stayed overnight in the hospital. When I got home, I saw that the hospital…
