Waiting for treatment options
Many of you will relate to this. I am waiting for my daughter to pick me up to go to my oncology appt. to discuss the treatment options. We are well prepared as son emailed questions to her last week so she will know what we need to learn. Nevertheless, my stomach is upset and my BP is rising as it always does for these…

Ca-125 inching up
I'm worrying. My Ca-125 was around 30 at diagnosis, and years beforehand, had been in the low single digits, so I figured it was a valid predictor for me. It went up after surgery (1a UPSC/clear cell but isolated tumor cells found in one of the two sentinel nodes) to the 70s from post-op inflammation, but then slowly…

When life throws you curveballs...
I enjoyed this article, perhaps because it captures my own journey to a new life. Nothing new for those of us who've been on this forum for a while, so I'm posting it mostly for new folks. This resonated with me: "The phrase ‘Now that you are back to normal …’ is like a knife to the heart. We cannot compare our current…

Confused about my options with Carcinosarcoma
I am a bit confused about my options. I was diagnosed 1a stage 3 aggression carcinosarcoma. within 2 weeks of diagnosis, I had a complete hysterectomy, lymphnodes removed, ovaries, everything gone. No cancer found anywhere but the uterine wall where there was a tumor (which I found odd that the CT scan never picked up, it…

Phase 2 study of the Exportin 1 inhibitor selinexor in patients with recurrent gynecological maligna
Interesting, a drug I hadn't heard of yet. The maintenance one is interesting in…

A person who was my inspiration has died
She was not my "friend" but a member of my inner community. And she was my inspiration! She had ovarian cancer, beat it for 2 years, had a recurrence, then another remission for almost 5 years. Question for those of you with lymphedema
For any of you who have developed lymphedema: Was severe knee pain an early symptom for any of you? I have no swelling at all and doctor checks say no sign of lymphedema, and my knee pain could easily be attributable to the aromatase inhibitor I'm on. But, since a lot of the pain is directly behind my kneecaps, I'm…

A really bright spot in my journey was my appointment today with an oncology PT ! He also was very open and comfortable talking with me about the value of this therapy as time moves on.…

Oral paclitaxel
Interesting phase 3 trial for metastatic breast cancer using a modified oral paclitaxel compared to standard IV paclitaxel every 3 weeks, which found both better response and less neuropathy. I wonder if it will eventually make it's way into our world for adjuvant or metastatic treatment!…

Just a funny tale to make you laugh
My new picture shows me holding a beautiful metal possum - a Christmas gift from my son! Some of you have commented that I raised them right. Well, my eldest son always says this: We saw our Mama snatch up a 20 lb. possum by the tail with her bare hand and carry him from our garage into the woods. That was one scared…

derMaus--sad news
Hello, I am Deirdre, a friend of Bobbi (derMaus). I am so sad to tell you that Bobbi passed away on November 24. Though I was not with her, I was told by her cousin that she passed quietly and she was not in pain. Bobbi spoke often of the women on this board and how much of a lifeline you had been for her. You meant a…

Lymphatic massage and/or compression machine
My lymphedema in legs is not really bad but enough to look puffy. PT has suggested a compression machine ( a large sleeve - one for each leg) that would be used once a day for one hour to reduce swelling. Have any of you tried or have one? My insurance will cover the cost but I am wondering if I really need it. Also, has…

Granulation tissue biopsy after surgery
I was diagnosed with Endometrial Adenocarcinoma Grade 1 in March, and I had a hysterectomy with da Vinci robot on April 17 (Stage Ia). I've felt fine since then and had no problems/symptoms. Yesterday I saw my oncologist for a follow-up. He said I have what appears to be "granulation tissue" at the top of the vaginal cuff.…
