Question for those of you with lymphedema
For any of you who have developed lymphedema: Was severe knee pain an early symptom for any of you? I have no swelling at all and doctor checks say no sign of lymphedema, and my knee pain could easily be attributable to the aromatase inhibitor I'm on. But, since a lot of the pain is directly behind my kneecaps, I'm…

Did you know there are oncology PTs
A really bright spot in my journey was my appointment today with an oncology PT ! He made me feel so much better as I do have lymphedema in both lower legs and he has given me relief that it will soon be under control. He also was very open and comfortable talking with me about the value of this therapy as time moves on.…

Oral paclitaxel
Interesting phase 3 trial for metastatic breast cancer using a modified oral paclitaxel compared to standard IV paclitaxel every 3 weeks, which found both better response and less neuropathy. I wonder if it will eventually make it's way into our world for adjuvant or metastatic treatment!…

Just a funny tale to make you laugh
My new picture shows me holding a beautiful metal possum - a Christmas gift from my son! Some of you have commented that I raised them right. Well, my eldest son always says this: We saw our Mama snatch up a 20 lb. possum by the tail with her bare hand and carry him from our garage into the woods. That was one scared…

Asking once again for your advice
Just returned from my post op check. News was not good. A tumor was removed on Oct.17 and the vagina looked clear but today it has already begun to grow again. The doctor describes it as like a rind that is at the vaginal cuff. This UPSC is determined to keep returning. She gave me several options which I will think about…

derMaus--sad news
Hello, I am Deirdre, a friend of Bobbi (derMaus). I am so sad to tell you that Bobbi passed away on November 24. Though I was not with her, I was told by her cousin that she passed quietly and she was not in pain. Bobbi spoke often of the women on this board and how much of a lifeline you had been for her. You meant a…

Lymphatic massage and/or compression machine
My lymphedema in legs is not really bad but enough to look puffy. PT has suggested a compression machine ( a large sleeve - one for each leg) that would be used once a day for one hour to reduce swelling. Have any of you tried or have one? My insurance will cover the cost but I am wondering if I really need it. Also, has…

Beware of Etoposide
I was treated with etoposide and cisplatin. A year after this treatment ended I got Acute Myeloid Leukemia from the etoposide. The AML was the most difficult of my 3 cancers (breast and uterine cancers too) since 2015.

Travel to foreign countries
This is a link to a good article about travelling after a diagnosis of cancer. This is written for Americans mostly but has good information. Granulation tissue biopsy after surgery
I was diagnosed with Endometrial Adenocarcinoma Grade 1 in March, and I had a hysterectomy with da Vinci robot on April 17 (Stage Ia). I've felt fine since then and had no problems/symptoms. Yesterday I saw my oncologist for a follow-up. He said I have what appears to be "granulation tissue" at the top of the vaginal cuff.…

Tested for Lynch Syndrome?
Hey all. After your biopsy or surgery, were you tested for Lynch? My gyn onc's office called to ask if I wanted my biopsy to be tested. They automatically test now, but back in 2012 when I was dx and had surgery they didn't. I said 'sure'. Goodness knows what this test if going to run on my insurance. So my questions to…

Bleeding years after cancer and chemo
Hi girls, I am back with more worries. Several months ago I posted about my CA125 going up for the first time in 8 yrs post chemo, and it turned out to be from pelvic inflamation due to periformis injection with steroids, 2 days prior to getting my blood analysis. Got that scare out of the way, and now I have another one.…

A Uterine Board FAQ?
I've been thinking about when to "unstick" the post explaining the data outage that now appears first in the topic list. I've left it stuck at the top of the topic list this long since I know that some members may go quite a while between visits to the board. But perhaps a more useful "sticky" topic would be a Frequently…

opiods after surgery?
I would like to hear from people about their experience with pain-killers after surgery. I had a bad experience with opiods after a hip replacement, so told the doctor at my pre-op that I wanted something else. She suggested Tramadol rather than the Oxy that is usually prescribed. Since this is surgery that affects the…

Preliminary List for Tribute Page
As the first step in assembling the tribute page I've gone back to the beginning of the board and found the dear ladies that we know are no longer with us.
