Tg is still 1,6
They took my whole Thyroid out and also on both sides 20 lymph nodes. After three Radio Active treatments my TG was still high (Tg 4,9 with TSH is <0,1). I received a PET scan where they found a last node of approximately 1 cm somewhere close to my lungs but not in my lungs. 2,5 months after the third surgery where they…

What are normal levels of Thyroxine (T4). I have been told that mine is 14.6 and that normal is anywhere from 5-12. Is this correct even with thyroid cancer patients? In 2/05 I had a total thryoid removal and later had radioactive iodine treatment. I was going to an endo, but was later told that my family doctor could…

question about 2nd surgery
I am new to this, unfortunately, and I accidentally asked a question on someone's reply. I apologize. I had a thyroid nodule I have been watching for 8 years negative biopsies each time lulled me into a false sense of "no problem". After my last scan showed some things,we decided to go ahead and remove the node. It looked…

???'s from a NEWBIE
I posted in another group (military) but think I'll have better luck with this more frequented site. I have deleted the VA/MIL specific questions, but if someone is mil. and can go to that post, I had quite a few specific questions. Following are more generalized questions pertinent to my Papillary Cancer and subsequent…

my dad was diagnosed in march with medullary thyroid cancer which spread to lymph nodes, spine, pelvis and skull. he is getting 12 radiation treatments to his back and thyroid. Extra spot on RAI scan
Last friday I was given 150 mCi. I just went in for a full body scan today and was told that there is a spot somewhere around my bladder that looks suspicious. I talked with my doctors' nurse who said that the description seems so vague and that I am more than welcomed to bring it up at my next appointment in May. I feel…

papillary cancer with extracapsular extensions
I would appreciate any info on this topic that anyone has. My thyroid, which was removed 3 weeks ago had 4 cancerous nodules and 2 of the nodules had extracapsular extensions. More than the 150
I am looking at my 2nd round of radiation. What circumstance would a doctor maybe recommed a higher does of I131 than the 150? I understand that if they go higher that 150 you must be admitted to the hospital. I can't get a real straight answer to the risks involved with a higher radiation treatment. My tg was just…

Stay away from soy?
I hear that soy is really hard on the thyroid. After being treated for thyca, do most of you try to avoid soy? or does it not matter since we no longer have thyroids... I'm just curious b/c I've been hearing such bad things about soy lately. Any other foods to avoid?

Is "Radioactive Iodine Treatment" radiation?
I am about to have the RAI done, and I'm a little confused. I understand what is involved, but I am having a hard time explaining it to family and friends. They keep asking me if it is radiation? Thyrogen vs. going hypo
I was recently dignosed with papillary thyroid cancer and have had a total thyroidectomy. I am getting ready to schedule my RAI treatment and I am debating using thyrogen to prepare for this versus stopping cytomel and going hypothyroid. I know this is an approved use for thyrogen in Europe, but not yet FDA approved for…
