Mammogram with contrast?
Is this a really bad idea? My TT is scheduled for Dec. 14. I have a nodule that has started to affect my voice (but interesting, I didn't get my synthroid refilled on Friday, and my voice is almost back to normal on Cytomel only). I have some spots on my breasts that are extremely tender, thus the order for the mamm with…

Trouble Concentrating, Memory and Confusion
I can't seem to get back to my mental capacities and I am not sure I ever will. I try so hard to remember important things but I just can't. Since my Thyroidectomy I have to do something several times before I can retain the information. This is so unlike me. I have a demanding job that requires quick thinking and…

Low Dose of I -131 Today
Hi I'm new. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in March, then had a TT in May and had thyrogen injections the past two days and received my RAI today. The dr. said I was getting 50 which is only 1/3 of the typical dose. He was kind of "whatever" about the regulations and kept saying "don't pee on anyone." He told me to…

Diet once everything is done
I have a question for those who have gone through the whole surgery and RAI business and are getting their lives back on track. A friend of mine who is a doctor, advised that I should be staying away from seafood products / iodine as it may stimulate the thyroid cells. Has anybody else been told this? Thanks

Very confusing one year after TT & RAI
It seems that I'm lost and I need advice. I got my TT on April 13th 2009 and RAI on May same year. Now finally after a year and half I get to prepare for my whole body scan. The problem I'm facing is that none of my doctors told me that despite I don't have any more cancer I need to go under RAI, when I asked the tech the…

Put off surgery?
Need input. My TT is scheduled for Sept. 28 at MDA, I'm going to see if I can get on the cancellation list, but here is my dilemma: My last semester of college is this semester. I'm getting a degree in Computer Systems Maintenance--so very hands on. I would miss a minimum of 2 weeks, possibly 3--which just won't work. If I…

Still waiting on the results of my thyroid FNA (2 years after having had radiotherapy - which included the left side of my thyroid for a head and neck cancer in my parotid gland) Does anyone know if they still do RAI if you've already had half the gland radiated? I'm sure my specialist knows what he's doing - and it's…

My biopsy
Can I just say, MD Anderson ROCKS!! I went in, registered, then had my ultrasound, and stayed in the room--radiologists looked at the pictures and did the biopsy. I choose to skip the lidocaine, not because I was trying to be brave or anything, but because I know how those lidocaine shots hurt, so I figured one needle was…

Second diagnoses??
Hey Everyone, It's been about 2 years since my surgery and RAI, but I still feel like crap all the time. More so tonight than ever I think. My doctor is thinking there may be some other cause as to why I still feel so horrible and my TSH levels keep jumping all over the place. I was just wondering if any of you had any…

lymph nodes - random question
Hi - I had a sinus infection a few weeks ago, and I'm not experiencing tightness in the lymph nodes. I've had a TT in Feb (nodule was contained, according to the path report), but my mind always jumps to cancer when things like this happen. I've had the lymph tightness in varying degrees since the sinus infection, but it…

I-123 scan & CT scan
Hi guys and gals, Has anyone had a CT scan immeadiately following an I-123 scan? I need to have both done sometime this December, and I'm wondering what sort of scheduling problems there will be. I know that you can't have a CT scan with dye before an I-123 scan or an I-131 treatment. I had a CT scan with dye 5 months…

Genetic Testing, BRAF, etc. Anyone done it?
I'm curious about genetic testing. I have papillary thyroid cancer and Hashimotos, and autoimmunity and other weird stuff runs in my family big time. I'd like to look into genetic testing, but I'm not really sure how to go about it, or even really what to ask for, what they do, etc. Anybody here ever done it? I live near a…

Scans, tests, etc./Discrimination
I hope other people have input to provide; two years after removal of cancerous thyroid and RAI 123 pill, my antithyroglobulin antigen level was very high so, I Spent one and a half years taking scans, PET< CAT, biopsy, etc etc, nothing was ever 'conclusive' until last January lymph nod removed for reocurrance of thyroid…

Thyrogen
Hello all, I have brought this up before, but my Dr. keeps insisting that I do not need to go on a low iodine diet but that I do need to stop my synthroid before my thyrogen scan. Everything that I have read says the opposite of what she is telling me. Everytime before my other scans I had been on the atkins diet which…

Medications and lab tests
I am doing research because I am having a FNA on a very large nodule on my thyroid. It has blood flow, and I have some swollen nodes. I'm not looking for the worst case scenario, but trying to be educated when I go to my appointments. (and I'm a little scared, my mother died of cancer at age 33) I've been reading several…
