newly diagnosed, metastasis
hi all my dad(51 yrs) has severe lower back pain and consulted the doctor. MRI and Bone scan suggests spread in bones from prostate. Waitin for biopsy result. I'm very scared. Reading about this in internet says the treatment is just palliative and not curative when spread. Is that true? I am from India.

Taxotere after radical prostatectomy?
Hi All: I had da Vinci RP on August 29. Thanks again to those who responded to my original post of 7/6/07. Your support was very helpful. The surgery went quite well. I have some follow up questions about post-surgical treatment. As background, I'm 48 and in good health. My path report came out: tumor is a T3, Gleason 7 on…

Robotic Surgery - Choice of Surgeon
Recently diagnosed with PCa - Gleason 6 (3+3) - T2a - Age 66. I have met with Drs Patel (Ohio State), Ash Tewari and David Lee from Penn in Philly. I am leaning toward Tewari - he seems great and I have talked to some of his former patients as well as read about him on this forum. Has anyone had any experience with David…

I am 50 years old. Was diagnosed with PC in 2/05. PSA was 12.26, gleason of 6. Pathology report stated that tumor limited to right side of prostate. Had RP in 4/05., prostate and 1 nerve bundle removed. Pathology showed gleason score 7(4+3), cancer contained in prostate, lymph nodes benign. PSA after surgery was <.01. Rose…

Merv Griffin died of prostate cancer.
Does anyone in this group has read anything related to the type of prostate cancer Mr. Griffin had in 1996? I understand it is rather unlikely to have a recurrance after 11 years. If the prostate is removed, there is no chance to return, unless he had radiation and seed implant. I had radiation and seed implant in 1998 and…

Life expectancy after rp
One question. Here is the info. Had RP done 10/2003-gleason 3+3---all margins and nodes clean. Psa hanging bteween .09 -.13. Dr. says no sweat till .20. had testicular cancer 2002. Now the question. If it comes back in a "mild form" what are my chances of living a reasonably long time comfortably? I have just recently come…

I had R/P surgery 18 months ago. Recovery went a lot better than expected. All of the related problems of the surgery resolved with time. Another on the list
Well I am getting everything ready to do the DaVinchi robotic 7-16-07. After reading about a lot of others experiences, checking with an old family doctor who is not involved in this, and just my gut reaction that was my choice. I am 59 years old , had a 7.2 PSA and 3-3 6 Gleason with the lab report estimate of 98% chance…

Newly Diagnosed, at Least Stage 2, Maybe Stage 3
Yikes! It's hard to know where to start with something like this. My wife and I are a bit "gobsmacked" as the Brits would say. I guess what I'd like to hear is other's experiences with a similar diagnosis. I'm 48, in good health. There is very little history of any type of cancer in my family, except that my…

Having RP on Tue the 17th
Just a note: I selected RP due to my financial condition and wifes health there is a real need to stay local. My Gleason is 6 and the Dr. said there was a 50-50 chance that I may be incurable and he would close after lymph node removal. Not a good thought to go into the operating room with. Well I guess all I ask for now…

PSA reading like a yoyo ?
I posted some weeks ago about my PSA results showing quite a jump from last year. I had radiation over 12 years ago and it seemed to do the trick. Then 3 months ago the Dr. said that the cancer was probably back because of the new PSA results. Course that almost caused another heart attack when I heard those words. The Dr.…
