Clamryn - You Are My Inspiration
Hello Everyone, I am not a cancer survivor, I am a caretaker. I'm sorry if I offend anyone by being on here. I just wanted to let someone very important to me know how much I care. Well Mom, after a few years of hearing you talk about this board I finally got on here tonight and checked it out. I must say there are several…

Back to chemo tomorrow
after my 5 week break. I've been chemoing for 2 1/2 years! so the time off was so very wonderful. Good news is that my counts stayed stable and I found out how strong I could get in such a small amount of time. I'm not sure what others would choose to do with time off ( for good behavior? ), but I got to spend lots of…

Fifth session
I just had my fifth session of chemo and it seems to be tougher than the others. My legs from the knees down are really aching not the muscles but it seems like the bones themselves. Also the taste in my mouth is twice as bad as it waS. Not sleeping well either.Any similar experiences...Do not know what to expect from the…

Sad news
I just found out that the tumors my cousin has on his spine are inoperable and untreatable. He is 67 and has suffered with Parkinson's for many years. He was like an older brother to me when I was a child and we remained close through the years. I am his son's godmother. There were ten of us cousins and so far four of us…

Cramping after surgery
I am 16 days post-op. My ovary, fallopian tube, and omentum were removed. They stopped there because the gyno/onco found it was a muconious cancer, and not ovarian. Anyhow, my question is, is it normal to have very bad cramping still. It does appear to be gas. It does seem relieved from passing it, but it can build up for…

City of Hope
I am currently being treated at UC Irvine for apendix cancer (PMP) and I have Medi-Cal with a MONTHLY share -of -cost of $4,750!! We don't make a whole lot more than that, but that is the only thing we qualified for without having prior ins and now having a pre-exisiting conditon. My mom is all over me to ask my specialist…

Words from gyn/surgeon
This is the message I got from my gyn/surgeon in response to questions I asked about my current situation. I had been in remission since my initial cancer treatment and now have a 1x2 inch tumor near my liver. I asked if I am now considered to have recurrent ovarian cancer, why no surgery, why Tamoxifen? "Yes you have a…

Worried
Hi, Some of you may or may not remember me. I lost my Mom August 17, 2011 after a 14 month battle with OVCA. In the fall I developed a rash on the right side of my face that I intially thought was adult acne. Over the last few months it has gotten worse so assuming it was rosecia I went to see my doctor. While I was there…

Back pain and very tight muscles 2nd week after open surgery
I had an open surgery last Mon, the 25th. It was suppossed to be a HIPEC for ovarian cysts, but when they opened me up there was a lot more going on so they took an ovary, fallopian tube, and omentum. . They "think" it is PMP, but pathology is not 100% conclusive. I am going for a second opinion with a PMP specialist in CA…

JP drain increase in fluid output today, 12 days post-op
I am 12 days post-op. All healing has been just great, really no problems at all. I only had a small debulking open surgery. Today my JP drain needed to be emptied almost every hour to hour and a half to to a major increase in fluid output. The color has been an amber color for over a week. Some slight tissues have been…

Is it OVCA recurrence or not? The more I hear the more confused I am becoming.
Hi Ladies, I met the ENT oncologist today in consulation to surgically remove the lymph node in my neck. (The needle biopsy came back suspicious for cancer). My medical oncologist says this is atypical of ovca since my ca-125 is 14.1 (two weeks ago), and two scans showed clean abdominal area. This dr. today said that it's…

Has anyone experienced swelling in legs and feet?
Maybe it's because I stopped chemo, I don't know, but my legs and ankles & feet get swollen. Dr. doesn't seem to want to put me on water pill, said I'd get too dehyrated, so I do wear compression stockings which don't help all that much. Any one else experienced this? Any suggestions? Thanks. I couldn't take chemo anymore…

Annual July 4th "Teal there's a Cure" run... awesome
Just got home from the annual walk/run that's held each year at a beautiful park in my hometown outside of Syracuse, NY. I'm glad to say it gets bigger each year. This time we had 150 more racers than last year and the villagers along the route have hoses out and cheered on the groups as they passed by. No, I didn't run,…

Good news?
Just got off the phone a bit ago with the NP I saw two weeks ago for my 6-month checkup. She's the one who ordered the pet scan and for whatever reason did not phone me. I have already posted all this. She asked if I received my onc's email and I asked rather coldly, which one? She said she had forwarded the results and…

My mother died from ovarian cancer and I'm scared!
My Gyno just called me with the results of my transvaginal ultrasound. Apparently I have an ovarian cyst that is less than half an inch. I'm 42 years old and never had any ovarian cycts. I had fibroids, which were removed in 1996 through a myomectomy. Since then every year I have been having ultrasounds to make sure they…

How important is it to have an gyn/oncologist for treatments and follow up care?
I had a gyn. oncologist for my surgery last year. However, he is 150 miles away from where I live. I have a medical oncologist now. He administered my chemo last year. I think he is an excellent doctor. However, I fear that he has way too many patients. Waits for appts. are generally anywhere from 1 1/2 to even four hours.…

I come from breast cancer forum and wanted to say...
That I check up on you ladies and always pray for all of you. I lost my grandmom/mother to ovarian c 13 years ago. My best friend. My everything. I miss her daily. Unfortunately her cancer wasn't found on time and her treatment options weren't so great. But treatments are better now, and I pray for a cure FAST. I hate it…

Can chemo be done at a different hospital than where my oncologist is?
I live less than 10 mins away from a brand new university medical center that has a state of the art chemo center. My specialist is at a different university hospital that is about an hour and a half drive from me. Do you think it is possible to get my treatments local but still use the original dr? Is that like stepping…
