Ovarian Cancer recurrance
I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in Aug 2005. I had a total hysterectomy. Also had 49 lymph nodes removed. 24 had traces of cancer. My Ca125 was up around 4,000. NOT GOOD! I finished 6 rounds of Carboplatin and Taxotere on 1/30/06. My CA125 went down to 7.8. Went for my 3 month check up and CA125 went up. A month later…

MichaelaMarie, how are you?
Just wanted to see how your chemo went today. Any new readings on the CA125? Mine is actually 7. I will get two blood tests, a mammogram, a CT scan and a bone scan before I see my doctor on the 16th. If all is well, last Wednesday was my last for sure! I'm holding on to that, especially since the doctor increased my…

Diagnosis In Progress - Insights appreciated
I had my follow-up appointment with the gyn-oncologist who performed my surgery (done on 7/3- total hysterectomy, omentumectomy, lots of tumors throughout abdomen removed). He said that the pathology results are not done yet because the histology was sent to Brigham-Young for futher consideration. He said the good news is…

from Doxil to Aromasin
Just a note to say how happy I am to be recovered from Doxil reaction and port installation and have started another hormone therapy to try to slow the cancer growth whilst I'm on the road to meet the new grandchild in late July. CA dropped only 3 points, but hey, down is good. Still itching but now healing some and still…

Not so fast
I'm troubled because my CA125 is not dropping as rapidly as others in our chemo room. I just finished my 3rd treatment and it only dropped to 70 from 108. Others are at 20-30 after only 2 treatments. Should I be concerned? Ann

Mopar, how are you?
Hi there everyone. Monika, did you see your doctor on Friday? What all did he say? I bet he is happy about your number being 8, and your Cat Scans showing clear. How are you feeling. I'm so excited for you - your last chemo on the 19th! I have my fifth on the 28th. I'm a little behind you. My last CA-125 after the 3rd…

UPDATE
Chemo #6 (FINAL!) is scheduled for 7-19 (our 31st wedding anniversary!). It's still rough for about 8 days after the treatment. I still have the loss of taste, funny sensation in my mouth for 3 weeks after treatment. But I'm no longer anemic thanks to 4 Procrit shots and my continued use of iron supplements. That really…

Hello Ladies, A friend of mine just turned me on to Teal Talk (www.tealtalk.org) which is a great new site that has a message board and chat room dedicated to ovca. I think there can never be enough sources of information and support out there and was happy to find this new addition. I have added checking teal talk to my…

Taxotere
I posted a message here a while back about a carboplatin sensitivity reaction. My medical oncologist switched my chemo to taxotere and that seemed to go well for the first treatment anyway. I won't have my second until early July. This was "cleanup" and consolidation chemo after a second occurence of Ovarian. I have…

possible new cancer
Went to the Dr. today about the spot on my lung. He said the only thing to do is to watch it and have the CT repeated in three months. He does not feel it is cancer of the lung because six and a half years have gone by. He wasn't that concerned. So I will keep doing what I have for 6 1/2 years with my Faith.Family and…

I am at 25
I just had to share with you that I think we've found a combination the cancer doesnt' like. My tumor markers are down to 25 in just 8 weeks. The Avastin/Cytoxan combination is definitely doing something. I will continue getting this for another 4 months and then get a CT Scan. Who would have thought after having the talk…

Jan Q no luck with email
so I'll try here to answer- Are you able to get a PET scan? Hi Jan, This is the only way I know of to get the details on location, how much it may have grown, etc. CT scan doesn't always tell the whole story. To answer the question of pain, I have it back in 3 places, the abdomen is barely tender, but the liver causes pain…

Antibiotics while on Taxotere
Hi everyone! I went for my lab work today, just got home, and got a telephone call from my doctor's nurse. I'm suppose to have my third Taxotere/Carbo chemo next…
