Blessed Easter
Dear Teal Warriors, It has been great getting caught up these past few days after being gone 2 1/2 weeks. I tend to stay on a little too long whether it is this network or FB and then get behind on what I really planned on doing for the day! Hee Hee I did start cleaning (slowly) the upstairs! Thank you, Lord, for the…

Attitude
It is a proven scientific fact that attitude and belief are more important than statistics. What do you think? Do you think it has anything to do with the reactive side of the brain or the thinking side of the brain? Just wondering what all of you think?

One down...11 to go
I had my first infusion of Taxol maintenance today. It was completely uneventful. We shall see what the next few days bring, but I tolerated it well in my initial chemo, so I'm not expecting any surprises. The doctor and I talked a little about stats and odds......though he really doesn't like to and it's like pulling…

I see lots of posts about the Ca-125, but mine are so high that I really need someone to say something to give me some positive thinking about them! My CA-125 was 9824 before surgery and three weeks after surgery it was only down to 7000 ;( I'm getting a little worried that I will never see the single digits, I need some…

Genetic counselor weighs in...........
I met with perky Lisa, one of the genetic counselors at my Gyn/Oncologist's group, this AM. She ran down all the FAQs of BRCA testing. In a nutshell: OVCA is not a common cancer, so if you have it, you should consider genetic testing if there is ANY type of female cancer in your family's medical history. If you have a…

Hiya, I live in the UK and have been searching online for somewhere to buy teal ribbons for OVCA. It is impossible, I don't think anyone knows about it over here and the only colour ribbon that is available is pink for breast cancer. So is there is web site in the US that I can visit? Thanks Tina xxxx

I saw my oncologist yesterday and agreed to stop chemo until I get to the operating room to cut this bad part of the colon out. Don't know when that will be... had a call in to the colon surgeon for two days with no call back yet. Still battling the diverticulitis with hopes of getting better by the weekend. It is much…

A word of wisdom
“If I were asked to give what I consider the single most useful bit of advice for all humanity it would be this: Expect trouble as an inevitable part of life and when it comes, hold you head high, look it squarely in eye and say, 'I will be bigger than you. You cannot defeat me.'” Ann Landers...defeat is bigger than death…

CT some better but CA up-new treatment to follow
I made it through my 6 cycles of carbo/gemzar, with the extra premeds for reactions. CA came down to 65, not great but dr said would do CT as doesn't go with just CA. Then would see, if disease till there, then maybe do more, or maybe stop for a spell to build my blood counts up. If down, then could get for awhile. Gave me…

My Mom just had her first treatment of carbo/taxol on Monday. She is over the nausea but now the muscles in her legs are spasming, that's the way she descibes it. Her Dr gave her vicodin for the pain, but does anybody know of anything else that can be done to help, and is this a normal side effect.

I'm confused. I read Sharon's post which said, "On top of finding out I was Brac negative (which I understand that my body has a less chance of fighting the cancer)." I was found to be BRAC negative and I thought that was a good thing? If anyone can explain this to me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, and luv, prayers and HUGS…

Mohawk for a Minute
Well, Ladies, Here it is in it's purple, pink and green glory. The magnificent "Mohawk for a Minute!" Oddly enough, for about two days before, my hair began shedding much more than usual, which really helped me carry through with my decision to shave my head in advance. I also have to say that I HIGHLY recommend doing it…

Fighter's Daughter - Introduction
Hello everyone, I've been following this board for a while - your stories are so inspirational and your strength amazes me. My mother (age 57) was diagnosed with Stage III uterine papillary serous carcinoma in July 2008. As you may know this cancer acts similarly to OVCA and shares many of its treatment protocols. She had…
