It's been a week from hell. My dad is 74 years old. After chasing our tail for a month, we finally started getting some answers one week ago. My father's ultrasound revealed cysts on his liver. We were waiting on a cat scan when my father suffered from what I now know was a seizure, I thought maybe it was a stroke. We went…

I am posting for my last time. I do not know how many physicians may visit these forums. I had hoped to provide some information where I could. Some postings were about different surgical techniques available for biopsy; others, spoke to the topic of clinical staging, etc.... I never gave my name or practice name or…

Timeframes for treatment
Let me start by saying this board is wonderful and a great resource and place for some hope. My father went to ER 3 weeks ago with chest pains, and was found to have a "large mass" on his right lung. Biopsy #1---done poorly and biopsy #2 done 2 days later. Results caused referral to oncologist...who referred also to…

Port for Chemo
As mentioned, I was recently diagnosed with SCLC. I did first chemo yesterday. I was told I should have a port installed due to condition of my veins. They had to try it 3 times yesterday to get treatment started. I'm terrified of having a port. I don't know why; think it's the idea of having it surgically implanted and…

The cancer has spread to 2 lymph nodes in the arm. Is this normal…

I am just wondering how many other drs. are out there telling patients that if your cancer comes back there is nothing we can do before it even happens. I must be crazy but I would think there is always something you can do unless its spread to so many parts and so advanced that they can't reach all the places.I have been…

Remission, that golden word
Well, this was the word my oncologist used today, and I cried with happiness. But I read Rosi's thread (http://csn.cancer.org/node/182069) when I got home, and now I'm afraid to be too happy about it in case that golden word gets yanked away...

My lung function test was horrible. I can't get much air out. Two doctors told me I can't have surgery for my lung tumor because of it.
