1 month post op and more
I had my 1 month post op check up with my Kidney surgeon. He told me all of my Kidney tumor was removed with clear margins and I would need no further treatment. I will have follow scans every 6 months for 5 years. Now the stuff I have been dealing with. Before I had my Partial Nephrectomy, I was having some other health…

My first six-month follow-up scan (scanxiety is weird)
After my neph six months ago, this is my first time going through this. I mistakenly assumed I would get a yes or no answer - "congrats, no evidence of disease" or "unfortunately, there is evidence of disease." Instead, I got "good scan". My abdomen CT scan showed everything looked healthy, except for "mild soft tissue…

It's coming out!
So on July 19th they are taking my kidney. Not going to lie, it bothers me. But I know I can do this. I went through two years of breast cancer and still taking those awful pills for prevention, I can do this. But it bothers me really a lot. My kidney removal is due to UTUC of the kidney, which is in the bladder cancer…

Have you ever wondered...
who is on the other side of the screen when you communicate with people on this forum or the background of the person providing responses to your questions? Over the past three years, I've often wondered these things about the people on here--in essence, I've wondered about you. We're all bound by a common bond--RCC, but…

Cancerversary - Trip to Hawaii and more good scans
A little over a year ago I was told I have cancer. My life was flipped upside down. It’s been a long and hard year. I’ve been on Cabo since December and the response has been nothing short of miraculous. I had my second staging scans since starting Cabo and have had two amazing results. Tumors shrinking, nothing new and…

Open partial nephrectomy pain
I had an open partial nephectomy done at Mayo clinic on June 11 2019. The circumstances were a bit odd because I was born with only one kidney and I already had stage 3 kidney disease when I was diagnosed. The good news is that they removed a 4.5 cm tumor and the margins were clear, so they said that I am cured of cancer.…

7 months post surgery pain
Hello - I am 33 years old and had a 2 cm size tumor removed via robot December 6th. I have been fine ever since until a couple weeks ago I started having pain on the front side of my abdomen on side that the tumor was removed on. I'm having any back pain, just dull frontal pain. Any thoughts on what this could be? Is this…

Hello all - it's been awhile since I've posted, but I read regularly. Quick update for me...see my urologic oncologist every six months - saw him this week and all is well. He gave me a high five and a big hug. Both the renal ultrasound and chest x-ray were NED. Bloodwork all normal. Wheww! It's been about 18 months since…

First Post-Surgical Scans
Had my first post-op scans yesterday. All looks good in and around kidneys and lungs. Blood work slightly better with creatinine back down into high normal. Still got a stone in the other kidney, but it's been there over a year now and it doesn't seem to have grown. PA is not authorized to give cannabis recommend, but…

Blessedgirl94 question
Hi Blessedgirl, I am another in your cohort of surgery three years ago in June and July. You asked about follow ups - I have alternating scans, CT one year and ultrasound alternate year. There is concern about the contrast to do CT yearly (I only have one kidney). Labs every year but not chest xray. I asked my doc about…

Another NED
CT clear today and for some reason, they did an ultrasound on my testicles. I asked the doc, he didn't order it. Kinda weird and I don't recommend it.

Hey hey

Uncle Ned Dropped By
Got the results of my CT from yesterday and all is fine. Another year with a visit from Uncle Ned.....and he brought a nice, smooth Cabernet with him. He said he’d come by again to visit next year, but he had to jet off to go see my surgical buddies jazzgirl and Stub to tell them their good news.

Losartan
Now that I'm home recovering from a nephrectomy I'm sitting around watching too much TV. I'm seeing all these legal firm ads about Losartan and cancer. Googling around I'm seeing a lot more on the subject. Apparently there have been any number of "bad batches" produced. I thought we had an FDA. My doc put me on Losartan…

Irbesartan for hypertension
I recently found out that a medication (Irbesartan/HCTZ) I take for hypertension was recalled due to its containing a contaminate that is a probable carcinogen. I have been taking this medication for several years and am now wondering if my kidney cancer was caused by this medication. The articles that I have read…

What kinds of follow ups do you do?
I was wondering what kind of follow ups do you do. I'm new to this, only 1 month out of surgery. I had a partial nephrectomy to remove a 5 cm RCC off my right kidney. Initial assessment is that it was all removed with nothing outside the kidney. I will have a repeat CT scan in September and probably yearly scans after…

First two consultations with urological surgeon
I had consultation individually with two urological surgeons in past week on treatment for a mass in size 10x4x15mm at my left kidney. Both surgeons recomended three options as the same as what was recommended by another urological surgeon when I was with Kaiser, but I insisted to have a robotic partial nephrectomy to get…

Low Back Pain
About a month ago, I developed a pain in my low back/hips. If I lay down in bed, even for a short time, and I stand up, it's there. Kind of a knot with shooting pain. After being up and around all day, it slowly gets better. By the end of the day it's pretty much gone and I start over again the next day. It's been so bad…
