Mets to the bone, how do you know?
So I am wondering what are the signs and symptoms for mets to the bone? What have any of you experienced first hand? I had my kidney removed back in November and since then had clear scans of chest and abdomen back in June. I have had some aches and pains in my Left shin, Left Thigh and Right hip. They aren't bad pain wise…

12 Months After Stopping Immunotherapy
I had another one of my three-monthly CT scans last week, 12 months after stopping the immunotherapy I had been receiving for three years. Still no signs of anything, and my bloods are all good, as is my life in general. Going on to six-monthly scans now. Regards, Fred

definition of invincible
So, my dad told us yesterday that he has kidney cancer. I don’t think I’ve ever cried as hard as I did when he let is know what was going on. My dad is a 47-year-old geek, a non-smoker, non-drinker, a relatively healthy guy who shouldn’t be under the weight of all of this. At first, he thought it was kidney stones, and…

Home from the kidney removal
So I got through the surgery on Thursday and only had one complications, I had irregular heart beat and went into afib, but they pulled me out of it and I am good. Doc beleives the chemo i had for my BC was a contributor to this. So while I went home with one less kidney, I pick up 2 more meds for life. I feel good though.…

Complex cyst question
Hello, I have had a complex cyst in my left kidney that has been watched for about 4 years, my last MRI was October of last year, so I'm due for another scan within the next few months. The MRI report from last year stated: Multilobulated 4.5 x 3.6 cm cyst in the upper pole left kidney with a couple of thin internal…

Chromophobe RCC - my experience
It has been nearly half a year since my right kidney was removed, and as my first follow-up scan approaches next month I thought I would share my experience. I live in the Atlanta area and am male, age 42 (was 41 at the time of my procedure), about 6'1"/145 lbs and a lifelong non-smoker and non-drinker in pretty good shape…

Complex cyst follow-up
My complex left upper-pole renal cyst that has been monitored for a few years has grown from 4.6 cm to 5.6 cm since last October. I have been doing monitoring near my home in Chicago and sending the reports/discs to the Mayo Clinic, and they called today that they need to see me there for an MRI on their equipment and…

New To Kidney Cancer - Looking for Advice
I'm very glad I found this support group, as I am going through an enormous flood of emotions. I'll keep my story brief, but would love any guidance anybody has based on your own experiences. BACKGROUND: A few weeks ago, I noticed blood in my urine and after two ER visits caused by this and major left flank pain, a CT scan…

Would appreciate any guidance
Hi, My head is spinning from doing so much research online, and am hoping I can get some insight from this community. My Dad, who is 72 had his kidney/ureter removed in April after being diagnosed with urotherial carcinoma. I think that is the type, I believe in "upper tract" (I have to tread lightly when asking…

Today's funny
A senior citizen from The Villages Retirement Community in Florida drove his brand new Corvette stingray convertible out of the dealership. Taking the on ramp south on I-75, he floored it to 80 mph enjoying the wind blowing through what little gray hair he had left. “Amazing,” he thought as he flew down I 75, pushing the…

3/4 Month follow-up scans
I had my first round of two weeks ago (partial neph/enucleation was end of March). My urologist initially opted for just the abdominal CT (w/ contrast), but I pushed for chest and pelvis too since I never had one before the surgery. Luckily my insurnace provider (Aetna) approved the revised request and was able to get the…

1 month post op and more
I had my 1 month post op check up with my Kidney surgeon. He told me all of my Kidney tumor was removed with clear margins and I would need no further treatment. I will have follow scans every 6 months for 5 years. Now the stuff I have been dealing with. Before I had my Partial Nephrectomy, I was having some other health…

My first six-month follow-up scan (scanxiety is weird)
After my neph six months ago, this is my first time going through this. I mistakenly assumed I would get a yes or no answer - "congrats, no evidence of disease" or "unfortunately, there is evidence of disease." Instead, I got "good scan". My abdomen CT scan showed everything looked healthy, except for "mild soft tissue…

It's coming out!
So on July 19th they are taking my kidney. Not going to lie, it bothers me. But I know I can do this. I went through two years of breast cancer and still taking those awful pills for prevention, I can do this. But it bothers me really a lot. My kidney removal is due to UTUC of the kidney, which is in the bladder cancer…

Have you ever wondered...
who is on the other side of the screen when you communicate with people on this forum or the background of the person providing responses to your questions? Over the past three years, I've often wondered these things about the people on here--in essence, I've wondered about you. We're all bound by a common bond--RCC, but…

Cancerversary - Trip to Hawaii and more good scans
A little over a year ago I was told I have cancer. My life was flipped upside down. It’s been a long and hard year. I’ve been on Cabo since December and the response has been nothing short of miraculous. I had my second staging scans since starting Cabo and have had two amazing results. Tumors shrinking, nothing new and…

Open partial nephrectomy pain
I had an open partial nephectomy done at Mayo clinic on June 11 2019. The circumstances were a bit odd because I was born with only one kidney and I already had stage 3 kidney disease when I was diagnosed. The good news is that they removed a 4.5 cm tumor and the margins were clear, so they said that I am cured of cancer.…

7 months post surgery pain
Hello - I am 33 years old and had a 2 cm size tumor removed via robot December 6th. I have been fine ever since until a couple weeks ago I started having pain on the front side of my abdomen on side that the tumor was removed on. I'm having any back pain, just dull frontal pain. Any thoughts on what this could be? Is this…
