Starting Sutent today for adjuvant treatment after nephrectomy
Hello, My first post, but I have been reading threads excessively since my diagnosis October 6th. Very blessed that removing my kidney (9cm tumor) has apparently removed the cancer as scans are all clear 6 weeks after surgery. I started 50 mg Sutent today and was hoping there were some recent members who have had…

Ultrasound update
Got the results from my ultrasound 12 mm cyst on my left kidney. At the moment it's going both ways, could be slightly complex or could be simple. Radiologist wants me to have another ultrasound in six Months. This waiting game sucks. :(

At Thanksgiving
We are still here. We are still "fighting" for normalcy...in many parts of our lives, ie. Covid 19, the Weather, Politics, Schools and Towns to open the way they used to be. But we are still here; maybe isolated, maybe sheltering in place, limiting our contact with the outside world, having meetings and appointments on…

Bone Island
Hi all, I had my CT Scan back in July, it's NED. But my doctor also mentioned there is a bone island on the pelvis bone. They believe it is just a bone island as it was there in 2016 on my first CT and the size hasn't changed at all. But they also offered me a bone scan if I would like to, and it is optional. I would like…

New here
I'm new here, so bare with me. I'm not super tech savvy. Last week I was in the hospital for a bowel obstruction. Had a cat scan with contrast done, and it found cysts on my kindeys. One I was aware of, and in the process of getting a referral to see a Nephrologist for. I was surprised when the surgeon had told me there…

Genetic testing question
Hi everybody...I haven't been on in quite awhile and I'm sorry for that. I am doing ok. Still NED almost 4 years out. My younger sister was just scheduled for a partial nephrectomy. She is in shock and processing all of this. She has a tumor 2.8 cm and another subcentimeter one that will be removed by robotic surgery. She…

A month after surgery
The pain for the first two weeks at home was the worst. The third week felt amazing and I felt like I was way ahead of schedule. The fourth week I hit a wall. I have mild-to-moderate pain, but I've lost my appetite entirely. I feel weak and depressed and I'm sleeping 14-15 hours per night. Despite a positive prognosis and…

Uncle Ned, I miss you...
Round 1 was 8 years ago I had my kidney and 7 cm Grade 4 tumor removed. I was told I was NED. Six month later, Round 2, there was a solitary met on my lung and part of a lung removed. For the last 7 years ( 2645 days), there was no evidence of disease. My Oncologist had said, the risk of CT is now greater than the risk of…

Outpatient nephrectomy?
Good morning, I have asked several questions in this forum and received clear and concise answers which I appreciate. I am seeing my surgeon this week for an upcoming nephrectomy. This will be a robotic procedure. He is going to attempt a partial, but because I have had two ablations with resulting scar tissue, he doesn't…

Cystic Renal Masses: How do they fit into the current management of kidney cancer in 2020?
Hi all, As cystic Renal Masses are less common than solid masses. It is not easy to find useful information online and even from our Urologist. I have found this video by Dr. Phillip Pierorazio is an Associate Professor of Urology and Oncology in the Brady Urological Institute at Johns Hopkins University. The video talks…

BIG news in treatments: Opdivo study halted EARLY, and another drug coming too!!!
Stopped a clinical trial of its drug Opdivo six months early after the therapy kept kidney-cancer patients alive longer compared with those taking a standard treatment. In the late-stage study of 821 patients who had been previously treated for advanced renal cell carcinoma, Opdivo met the primary goal of improved…

questions about process
I have a "friend" who has surgery done very recently from September 17, 2020, and it appears nothing has grown back for at least one month. Apparently, he has a hard time sitting still for long periods of time. What can he do to minimize this pain? He feels scared because he doesn't know how to sit still. He is already…

Yervoy and Opdivo Therapy
My oncologist is trying to get insurance approval for me to start Yervoy and Opdivo therapy soon. We like to travel by RV, he said I could never be far from a good medical facility and certainly never out of cell phone coverage, that some of the potential side effects are sudden and deadly. We know our trips will have to…

Scanxiety part VII.2: bloodwork
So had some bloodwork. Solitary kidney working top notch. Nephrologist asked me to drop at least 10 pounds so my cholesterol and other stuff comes down. Not a big. I'm happy that the other guy's doing its job! The funny: I hate needles. I hate having blood drawn, and I hate everything related to needles. Not a phobia, as…
