My first exposure to "scanxiety"
I must say that "scanxiety" surprised me in regards to severity. I was doing OK keeping my mind occupied, but I am having some interesting symptoms. For the past three nights I have had some pretty nasty nightmares that I cannot get away from. Normally I will have an occasional bad dream but I can force myself to wake up…

I wasn't sure if anyone was aware of this link for Clinical Trials: http://www.fhcrc.org/en/treatment/clinical-trials/list.74.html It lists about 15 underway, all came up under the heading Renal Cell, adults and pediatric. May be something for someone here! Michael

Turning 70 and Kidney Cancer
I turn 70 this month, I am an 11 year survivor of RCC and I have nearly 1000 posts. Here are a few of my thoughts about the past, present and future. 1. 70 years from now Stages 2, 3 and 4 of Kidney Cancer will be eliminated by advanced and regular scanning procedures. 2. 70 years from now all Stage 1 tumors will be…

Six Months on Affinitor Trial for Adjuvant Therapy
Just before my trip to Spain/Italy with my son last month, I had my second set of scans since starting the treatment. All is well. I'm glad for that. The side effects have backed off (I was mainly having some nausea and fatigue). My oncologist said there's a 3 month peak in the side effects and then it tends to taper off.…

I've been looking for someplace where I could read and learn and maybe whine a bit every once in a while. :) . Right now, I'm still anemic and tired to the bone, because my left kidney hasn't…

New member. 4 years post nephrectomy, new nodule
Hi everyone. I'm a new member. I found out incidentally in 09 that I had an entire kidney full of a tumor. No symptoms. Had CT for years of headaches when tumor found. Removed with Davinci robot. Graded 3Tb bc it had already begun growing into my renal vein. The type is very rare and called chromophobe type. Apparently,…

Had my first scans earlier this month since being on Votrient. 30% Shrinkage with no new growths. Now if I can just find food that tastes good. Losing weight because I am not eating nothing tastes right.

Things we learn from scans not cancer related
I like to look at my scans. I think it is really interesting to ready the Dr.'s assessment. Of course, the initial focus is on things that are cancerous. Next, I look at my Nephrectomy scare, as it is still healing at 13 months. Then I look at other things....One thing I learned this week is I have developed scolliosis. I…

Hello again everybody. It certainly seems like I've become a lurker here again, but truth be known, I'm being held captive by the medical community, here in Los Angeles. Scanxiety Summer 2013, or I know something is wrong!
I know something is wrong. I am not sure what it is, but I know it. I am having pain in the chest, at times pretty severe. It has been going on for about 3 weeks. It is usually at the same time of the day, which is pretty weird. It is scaring me. And my ribs hurt. I know the scans will show something. And then I am…

Here You Are Eims!
In keeping with Eims' request, this picture is my one and only tattoo! I got it four weeks to the day that I got my diagnosis. I was/am 66! We now need to ratchet up the pressure for Eims to show us apicture of HER tattoo, cermoniously located, she claims, on her upper left buttock! Do I hear a poll in the offing? Michael
