It was recommended that I have Folfox chemo treatments (12, every 2 weeks, 48 hours each treatment). I have completed 4…

Rosemary, for what its worth
There's a bunch of rosemary growing around my house, so I decided to check on pubmed for its effect on colorectal cancer. There are no human studies, but rat and test tube studies seem to indicate it may be helpful. So, I guess I will add some rosemary tea to my routine. Rosemary:…

Phil, I can't find your email address!
I can't seem to find the thread where you gave me your email address and I'm a simpleton when it comes to searching or finding things and cannot remember which thread it was. It was in regards to the book. Please PM me or give it to me again. Ugh, You'd think I'd learn to just write things down! Jan

If it goes south.
We've all wondered if somehow or another we got this because we earned it. The atheist would say no of course but others would and do use it as a means to condemn a person. You know the type. The people with Christian symbols on their cars or minvans that go to church every sunday to wash the sins of last night away. I've…

adjuvant chemo
Has anyone with Stage II rectal cancer had adjuvant chemotherapy after surgery? The oncologist is suggesting a 4 month course of IV chemo, once every two weeks. The statistics he cited were the chance of recurrence without the chemo at 15% and with chemo at 10%. I am wondering how others have fared. Thanks, Ellen

Finally Finished Folfox!!!
Hello everyone, On Friday I "graduated!" I completed my chemo for Stage 3 colon cancer that began in November. I will be scheduled soon for both PET and CAT scans. That being said, it was a bitter/sweet day. One of my chemo buddies lost her battle to breast cancer on Friday also. We started treatment together with the same…

No Chemo For Me
Hi - I'm new to this site. I had emergency surgery Christmas Eve 2016 - desending colon resection - 3mm tumor - Stage II T4A N0 M0 with high grade cells. It happened so fast that I never got my head around the fact that I had cancer and probably had it for years since colon tumors are slow growers. I was stupid because I…

What was your first day on Xeloda like?
I start Xeloda and radiation on Monday and plan to take the day off from work but have some family responsibilities and I'm trying to determine whether I should bail out on those for the first day. The responsibilities just involve driving. I've read many stories about how people work through the 28 days of Xeloda and…

Hello all, My fiance has stage IV colon cancer and her tumors have shown continued growth over the past few scans. She has tumors in her liver, lymph node, omentum, and both ovaries. The ovarian tumors are 10-15 cm and cause discomfort and the lymph nodes are causing back pain requiring morphine. A couple weeks ago they…

Can rectal cancer return after 20 years?
Hi Hi. I am very worried about my dad. He has been cancer free after rectal cancer in 1998, after which he had a permanent colostomy. He has become very sick in the past 5-7 years with loss of feeling in his legs and back pain. He also has a permanent incurable infection from a fistula. He is very weak, and exhausted all…

Confession
Okay, I'm going to talk about something that might sound very weird or might alienate me from some members. I did speak about it to one and he was very accepting but I've told very few people about this. And it's kind of bothering me a lot. My husband and daughter do know but my closest friend is a Jehovah's Witness and…

Anyone know anything about mets to the sacrum?
A couple of years ago my partner was diagnosed with rectal cancer. He went through the chemo and radiation, the surgery, and then the follow-up chemo. All signs pointed to his being NED, except for a nagging lower back pain that kept getting worse. We recently discovered that my partner's cancer bypassed the lymph nodes,…

Hello All
I'm Patty. I posted some replies on the existing threads but thought I'd drop by a hello to formally introduce myself. First of all, I wanted to thank this forum as this has provided me with some hope and answers to questions that I sometimes forget to ask to my onco. I've come to a realization to stay away from…

Repeat Offender - Different Organ
I visited this site last week in my determined quest to self-educate regarding rectal cancer. After reading some posts I decided that it would be beneficial for me to join the list. When I attempted to do so it indicated that I was already a member. Apparently I joined in 2012 when I was freaking out during my third year…

Taken off of Avastin
Little worried, husbands scan showed possible blood clot and he now has to take blood thinner meds. Because of this the Dr has removed Avastin from his chemo treatment (Folfori). Dr. said he is between a rock and a hard place and has no choice. Has anyone else been thru this and what has the outcome been? He has just…

Weird Liver Stuff and Minor CEA Question = Panic
Panic for me anyway. Not sure my doctors are worried but I am. I had my 3 year CT scan in June, where a 9 mm hypervascular lesion was noted which could be a hemangioma, but they couldn't rule out metastasis. My onc sent me for an MRI which was SUPPOSED to give us a definitive answer, but did not. Apparently the lesion is…

New Member and a Question
Hello everyone, I joined this site a few days ago and I have read some of the topics. You guys are so inspiring and brave to talk about personal battles and being there for one another. how reliable are PET Scans?
I got the results of my PET and it showes 2 large masses in my liver. When we did a biopsy of one of the masses it came back benign, but the pet showes 2 large masses. I originally had 4-5 large masses in my liver, so is it possible to have some that are benign and some that are cancerous? what is the likely hood that…

Partial Tumor Abortion?
Everyone: This is somewhat gross, but then again, so is cancer. I am two weeks into chemo and radiation for a rectal tumor. Earlier today I passed a large tissue during a bowel movement. It clearly was not feces. Is this common? Should I be concerned or is this proof positive that the Xeloda and gamma rays are having a…
