Surgery Follow up
I had my 15 month surgery follow up this morning. My surgeon is checking me very closely as I have now had 3 surgeries and so much of my colon removed. It seemed to go pretty well. He looked at the most recent incision (yup, I am sure you all are familiar with that scope) and said everything looked good. No scar tissue or…

Interesting articles - Updated July 6th
Various articles I have found concerning Cancer, around the world. http://www.bbc.com/news/health-38013566 - I don't think anyone can really 'get it' unless they live it, or live with someone with it - and then some of them don't even get it; other do.…

Xeloda and joint pain
I responded to a post the other day about being on Xeloda and having joint pain. Now I can't find it. I've been off the Xeloda for two days because I get a week break between three week sessions. And my pain has already reduced by quite a bit. But at the same time I'm noticing quite an increase in gas and tummy cramps.…

When to eat ice cream?
Next Friday will be my 6th infusion on FOLFOX. It's summer and very hot!! I haven't had an ice cream yet and I am craving for it so badly!!! But I am so scared that I might have a throat 'spasm'. I know by experience the jaw spasm goes away a few days after the pump is taken off, but how about the throat? I need your…

Late after effects of chemo
Hi, I finished 6 treatments of Xeloda and Oxaliplaxen at the end of January. For the past couple of weeks I've been feeling very fatigued, joint pain and muscle ache. It's almost worse than the original chemo. Has anyone else had this happen? I was so happy to be done and within a couple weeks, I was feeling pretty good.…

Anxiety brewing
I'm getting scans and tests this Thursday and already the anxiety is beginning. Not only about the tests and results but also about the contrast injection. The last two scans were not good. As soon as the contrast was injected I started feeling nauseated. And the nausea led to vomiting. The doctor prescribed a different…

Hello and thoughts
A couple weeks back I started rectal bleeding and on the 13th I called in to set an appointment to get checked. The nurse on the phone asked me some questions about blood color and so forth and then told me to go to the ER versus setting an appointment for later on. I went in and they did some tests, probing, and so on.…

Hello! I posted a while back ago about my concerns of a colonoscopy I was scheduled for. I am a 21 year old female, and I was recommended by my doctor to get a one. Here is my experience (in detail) of the whole ordeal. I hope this might help someone in the future! I did A LOT of research about colonoscopies on the…

After Ilestomy Reversal Advice needed
This is my first time on here and I was diagnosed with rectal cancer back in October and had my surgery in November, then I had my reversal surgery on February 27, 2017. It has been challenging to say the least. I'm hoping to get some advice from people who have gone through this to see what steps they have taken. It just…

I'm squeaky clean on Colonoscopy
Thank you for all your comments and thougths and prayers. Doctor said there was no polyps, no sign of cancer, no colitis and that I'm not to return for 5 years. I'm really surprised at the date as I've been 2 years, 2 years, 3 years and and now 5 years. I've been clean for 8 years and with no polyps he doesn't feel the…

Fatigue/Nausea
Hi to everyone on this board--I've been reading your posts for a bit and you seem like a great group. In October, I was diagnosed with sigmoid colon cancer in October, had resection surgery and the cancer was staged at IIIA (3/15 positive lymph nodes). (I'm 28, a vegetarian and in good physical shape with no family history…

What is a sigmoidoscopy?
I looked it up but it doesn't say what it really like to have one. I get scoped every 6 months because I have the ostemy, so no colonoscopy for me. But, probably due to having diarrhea all my life, my colon is very tight/small and just the scope hurts, even the pedo one. So he said next time he's going to do a…

Colonoscopy on Tuesday
