WE HAVE SPROUTS!
I have been monitoring the garden for weeks and just saw some little (1/4") things poking through the leaves. According to my diagram they would be crocus and snow drops. Proof that at least some of the bulbs did not become rodent fodder. I was going to take some photos but that would be too obssessive, even for me. I…

Off I go into the wild blue yander.....
Flying high! Tomorrow I will be off to Cancun. Unbelievable!!! If you would have told me one month ago that I would be taking an impromptu trip to Mexico with my friends in one months time I would have bet money against you. I was in so much pain and so sick from chemo I would have thought you were either insane or dipping…

More bad news!!!
Hi all, Hope everyone is doing good. I went to chemo doctor today because of all the problems I'm having since starting chemo and he thinks these new problems are cancer related, not chemo related. After examining me, and find some very painful spots on my stomach and the symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and very bad stomach…

Hello!! To All!!! I am usually in the liver group, BUT!
My 28 year old son was told he may have colon cancer. He doesn't have insurance, so they won't do a colonscopy on him, but the doctor is working with him to run other tests. I only know of the blood in bowels test. He is married and has 3 beautiful young children. I am praying for a good report. I found this group while…

adjuvant chemo with ostomoy
Following radiation and 5fu chemo I had surgery a couple of weeks ago for rectal cancer - stage 2. All results were great - no spread - all lymph nodes were clean. I was told by oncologist I will need 6 months of adjuvant chemo (5fu and leucovorin). Problem is that I have a temporary ostomy that surgeon told me would be…

Heading off to Dana Farber
Well, i am off to obtain my 2nd opinion at Dana Farber. Wish me well. I don't really know what a good outcome would be (they tell me i am on the perfect treatment plan right now and everything will work out!), but it's one more step i've taken to try to take control of this dragon. Then off to Newport, RI for a weekend of…

Just a Quick Blurp!
Hi everyone! Well Bert's CEA count is in today.....2.5!!!!!! Hip, Hip, Hurray!!!! He has now been off chemo for six months and with all the anxious times we spent worrying about why his CEA climbed from 0.9 up to 9.0 (gee, totally reversed itself) during a period of six months, yet all scans were clear, looks like it has…

Thanks!
You may remember that I was going over to my father's for his first round of chemo several weeks ago. Well, he has had two treatments now, leucovorin, irinotecan and 5FU, with Zomfar for nausea and acyclovir to keep the shingles at bay. The first round he had an initial reaction so he now get atropine automatically. The…

Reminder..."Angels"
As you all know, kanga gets a bit sensitive sometimes. So I want to get that way now. Some of us are fortunate enough to have carers...like my "angel", Jen The following is for all those "angels" that look after us.--two statements. 1/ While I was doing chemo the nurses admitted a young lad(17 years old) who was…

To Kanga and Jen
Hi, I probably said this in a previous post to you, but I wanted to especially say "Thank You" for all you've done for me. You have encouraged me so many times. And..your message about "angels" really inspired me. I have always appreciated all my husband does for me, but I probably don't tell him enough. He is my "angel"…

Things are moving again and hopefully I will be home again soon. This time for good. Maureen PS on friday it will be 3 weeks since my surgery, I guess I am a slow healer.

This chemo is tough!!
Hi all, Started the new chemo last week. Did pretty good the days I took it because they gave me anti nausea meds with it. Then Sunday night I got terribly sick. Nausea, vomitting and diarehea, all at once. I went to the hospital as my chemo doctor ordered and had IV fluids and IV anti nausea meds. I feel much better. They…

Hi everyone. Thank you for the kind welcome comments and answers to my question. I've already discovered the "bathroom diet". I was hoping to regain the weight lost from purges for the colonoscopy and surgery, and not eating after the surgery. But haven't seemed to be able to add more than a pound or two of the 10 I lost…

What does non-red blood look like?
Okay, I understand from the replies to Gabor that no matter what, when we see blood in our stools we should get it checked out, but that if the blood is bright red there are some probable benign causes. My question is, what does blood in the stools look like if it's not red? My doc says it's black and tarry, but I'm on…

Hi, I'm new too...
Hello everyone. I'm new and want to introduce myself to you. The third week of December I had a colonsocopy (my first) and they found a lesion. I met that same day with the surgeon and he was able to schedule surgery for the following week. So...the last week of 2004 I had a right hemicolectomy. They staged the cancer as…
