My BD is tomorrow and I have good news
Tomorrow is my birthday and I have good news. I had a PET scan today because of an area in my pelvis that was of concern on my last Cat scan. It took the radiologist a while to compare the PET scan to previous films. It was decided that the area was NOT CANCER. There was inflammation from the radiation proctitis that I…

infectious lesions anyone?
My friend with rectal cancer just finished a 5 week episode with Xeloda and radiation. After the treatments he developed a few skin lesions that soon became painful and infectious. He spent Christmas in the hospital on an IV of antibitics. No one one could confirm for sure if this was a side effect of the radiation. Has…

Incisional hernia repair
I had day surgery yesterday for an incisional hernia at the same location as my laproscopic right hemicolectomy a year ago. I never thought I'd have to worry about constipation again. Let's just say Vicodin took that assumption away! Howard

Lung damage from Oxaliplatin?
I have been doing some research since getting results from my scan yesterday. On my PET/CT scan, my lower lungs lit up in a cloudy pattern. The radiologist said in the report that it was probable pneumonia. I don't feel sick at all. I have since found some information that indicates that 1% of patients receiving…

Radiation Effect on Muscles?
Hey there hi there ho there : ) I have more questions about radiation for those of you who have "been there, done that". I had radiation during the 2005 summer to my pelvis to shrink my rectal tumor prior to surgery. The radiation was beamed in from 4 points - both sides and front and back. I am wondering if it is possible…

Cloudy Lung on PET/CT???
Hi, Ok got my scan results. My lower lungs are cloudy. The radiologist report says probable pneumonia. Pneumonia??!!! I don't feel sick at all. So I'm a little weirded out. I'm glad that there wasn't positive spread anywhere else, but the uncertain lung stuff is a little worrisome. I didn't get to talk to oncologist today,…

Good morning all. Had my port flushed yesterday and they had a bit of trouble. Seems they got the needle in the port( which they could feel), but there was a lot of resistence in pushing the saline and heprin. Tried 2 different needles and the same result. The nurse was finally able to flush it, but said it could have been…

started with new onc and chemo
Thanks to all who gave me advice to switch oncs. My last onc felt that I had run out of options and should just stay with Erbitux and CPT11. She felt that despite a spike in my CEA from 11 to 49, it would not help to take any more tests because there was nothing else she could do for me. Since then, I had insisted on PET…
