I'm Having Surgery This Week
I will be having surgery to remove my tumor and have an ileostomy on Thursday, March 26th. Doctor said I should be there about 9:00 and he will probably start sometime around noon. Surgery will last about 4-6 hours (wow that seems so long) and I will be there approximately 4-6 days. He said that the best determining factor…

Immune System Shot?
Hi All, I hope all of you are hanging in there and fighting the good fight. I pray for all of you every day. I do have a question for the veterans (although I consider myself a veteran, also.) Since chemo (ended in February 2007), I have had a lowered immune system. I seem to catch every infection that comes down the pike.…

Did anyone see Oprah yesterday on growing your own new liver etc with no need for antirejection meds
It was very exciting.. not even Dr Oz was aware of how far they had come in this technology. There is a video on her website right now where you can see the place they are doing this.. Anyway, they can take a mold or an animal liver, bladder, heart etc,,whatever organ it is.. and they remove all the cells and then they…

Start my next round tomorrow - Update
Now that surgery is nearly 7 weeks out, they are starting my mop-up chemo tomorrow morning (3/23). I am lucky - 5 days in a row, then 3 weeks off, repeat for a total of 4 times. I am getting a Bolus of 5FU and leucevorin. Also a drip of anti-nausea and probably antibiotics...not sure yet. Anyway, I only have to do this 4…

hyoscyomine
Well- Mom is still having trouble with diarrhea. The sandostatin shot helped to slow things down but hasn't stopped it. She is still having trouble eating- after a few bites she gets gaggy and just can't get any more down. She is drinking about 1500 cc - same trouble - just can't make it go down. I think if we could stop…

had bad reaction at chemo #10 today...scary
I also posted this at the colon club. so you may see it twice if you go there...went in for #10 today. I had been taken off of oxaliplatin at rounds 6-8, and it was reintroduced on round 9 at a 30% reduction, and it has been no secret that OXY and i are not such good friends. So anyway, i have a history of acid reflux so…

My Doctor said that Oxi was just a nuisance
My Chemo doctor just said that the Oxi (chemo drug sorry can't spell it yet) was just a nuisance drug and nothing more. I can't imagine that what I have read on these boards and how people feel while they are on this and the long lasting affects that it can cause a person is just considered a nuisance. She said that it…

It's Been Awhile - HELLO
It's been awhile and I apologize, but not having a computer at home and loosing my job in October 08 left me to the usage of my local library computer weekly which basically led to 4-5 hours of job searching on a weekly basis. I have found a temp position that should last about a year, but I continue to look for full-time…

Well, I had my PET scan done on Wednesday, but I don't see my oncologist for the results until April 1. Lisa suggested I get a copy of the results before then, so I went by and got a copy. Bottom line, I am still NED! "No evidence for recurrance/metastatic colorectal carcinoma." I am feeling very blessed and want to say…

my doctor
We had a birthday party at our church today. Since there would be lots of people there, I made sure I had my table of Relay "opportunities" available. I have to say, it really touched my heart when my primary care physician came to the table and purchased a luminary in my honor. He said he was doing it, in hopes I would…

The good and bad of my day
I'll get the "bad" out of the way. So far, it's really only an uncomfortable and a bit of a worrisome thing. I had a mammogram today. Never fun! Since I had a callback last year and ended up having a core needle biopsy, I'm a little worried. I don't want to go through that again. Makes me too manic! Now for the good! Today…
